Bottom end has just gone on my wrx bugeye.
was running 361/322.
was getting it mapped on E85 in 2 weeks so hoping to achieve 380/350 on current set up.
im after something to handle 400bhp but im on a tight budget.
what would you recomend please?

Hi Dave - Of course we'd recommend our 2.1 stroker, although you may not actually need it to find your 400 bhp. If you can run to it, we are finding it a great way to go, more power and torque from your original block without breaking the bank, and it certainly perks up spool up with larger turbos. Failing that, a rebuild with forged rods and pistons should be just fine, any less just won't do. I'm assuming you haven't poked a hole in it! If you have, we can supply blocks as well. Ten day turn around at the moment, give us a call if you'd like us to help you.
nice figure there alan, impressive
just a newbie question really, what do you mean by a stroker engine? heard it thrown about, never understood it though :$
and say i buy a standard sti v5 with a bottom end gone due to wrong fuel and decat with no mapping.. how much would it cost to get that 450 figure reliably? including turbo etc.

A stroker entails leaving the bore size alone, but increasing the stroke. You gain an increase in swept volume, and a longer stroke means more torque, due to the extra throw on the crank. (More leverage) It's done by fitting the 2.5 crank in the 2 litre block using shorter rods. We have taken the trouble of having the rods manufactured in 40 CrNiMoA steel, in H beam pattern.
Our experience is of better spool from existing turbos, greater power and torque output, and a number of options for strength while you're at it.

V5 block should be ok for 450 with just forged rods and pistons, but if you're going to go to that trouble, I'd suggest a 2.1 would be the way to do it. It would appear that we have a formula that would give you that power output, ie 2.1 engine, Turbo Technics T38 turbo, RC manifold and up pipe, decent front mount intercooler, with injectors, fuel pump and remap you should get there. The price depends on how you choose to go about it!
Another satisfied customer here from the top work carried out @ the Engine Tuners. They are very helpful and always willing to help out in a sticky situation. Plus they will normally call you back the same day and they aren't to shabby at making a cuppa too.
Can also vouch for the coffee but only when AJ makes it.....

The short block is £1800 inc vat, painted silver and ready to go.
We can overhaul your heads for £149.73 inc vat, that's for strip clean and build, cut and lap valves and seats and surface. They come back ready to fit right on. If the guides need doing, that's another £101.20, that's for the Cosibro thin wall insert system.
If you want to send us your complete engine, less ancills, there is a bit more labour to remove and refit the heads, and sort out the cam belt timing etc. We can advise better on that one when we see it, in case it needs tensioners etc. We can also supply ARP head studs etc.

Regret all new orders now £2050 inc vat, the parts to build have shot up in price like everything else..
hi Alan,
u say standard gearbox??(4.1.1.) at 453 Bhp so that would be close to 400lbs of torque..wont that destroy the gearbox once over 360lbs
V1 Sti Jap Imports have they not a CDB? and if so could it not be possible to change the pistons/rods to forged, comestic gaskets and use ACL Bearings on original crank for less that this and give u the same bullet proof engine..
and if u had the above what Bhp would you expect if it were combined with a Hybrid FMIC, TD06 turbo, 550 injectors, Walbro 255ltr fuel pump and Simtec remap? (4.4.4. transmission)
cheers
Wayno

The CDB is more commonly found in older versions, but they can pop up anywhere if somebody decides to fit one! Of course you could build an engine any way you want.. We are offering this version, taking advantage of the extra stroke (torque) and using quality components.
We don't use the TD06 turbo. The limiting factor would be the injectors in that line up I'd say.
