well engien is not back in its bay, took 3 atteempts, lol, forgot to put clutch fork in 1st time, then 2nd time engine mount was wrong way, and being an ***, forghot about clutch fork again but is all in, i have tomorro off to run all wiring and hoses. got my oil waiting and filter, so hopefully im good for a start saturday sunday, maybe tomorrow if i make good progress.

as iv decieded not to fit my new air filter anbd fmic untill its run in, i now need to fit, tmic, radiator, starter motor, exhaust to turbo, wiring, all vacum pipes, fuel lines, air con, im fitting alternator last after its been started and got oil pressure, il keep booster pack on battery to keep power. gotta buy some coolant aswell.

so il start it, then idle for a min, then fit the alternator and take for a run with no mot, tax, just insurance, quick 10 mins and drop oil.

pic of engine in bay

heres 3 vids, i gambled and filemd the initial start. bit rought, but it had a few teething problems i need 2 sort tomorro

1st time
MOV00349.flv video by shevooxa - Photobucket

after leak 2 fix
MOV00350.flv video by shevooxa - Photobucket

before i found leak 2
MOV00351.flv video by shevooxa - Photobucket

tomorrro i plan to sort leaks, fit bonnet, drive for 10 mins drop oil, fit new oil filter and fuel filter
fit powersteering pump, alternator and make sure all is ok.

let idle for 10mins this evening, cant see any water or oil leaks.

i hope now it all runs ok, sounds ok when ur in front of it, a slight tap from lh head, but nothing im worrying about, and it does have a slight iratic idle, surge, but that may b cause im running off a batter charger. and also the pugs have not been gapped, as i was told they r fine as they come.

fpr also shows 4 bar, thats a bit high, i did adjust the top but no effect any ideas
i think this thread is mid way now, lol

cheers fud, and ur right, everyday i think not week, lol.

well im going bk down garage now, sort out my fuel leak, tidy things up a bit.

after thinking about the slight idle problem, i realised i have a hole in the y pipe of intercooler. i do have a fmic waiting in garage to fit, but for now i think il remove the y pipe and try n seal it, but bodge like, with some duct tape to stop leak, only for 1000 miles and im fitting fmic.

also think there may b a leak on a vacum pipe, so im also gonna check that.
refit alternator, powersteering pump, bonnet and clutch fork spring and 10 mins out.

fingers crossed

well its now official, it drives really well. fixed the leak in 5 mins, fitted everything up and went out for 10mins. no oil or coolant leaks, temps where all fine, plenty of torque and power, and that driving upto 3000 rpm.

little vid of engine and exhaust

quick update on car now, ARC coil over suspension is now fitted, nice straight forward job. also made a start on fitting my hybrid fmic, its 2nd hand but in good condition, pipes could do with a polish up, and blue rubber hoses cleaned. piping has also been bent, badly shaped in places for what i assume was fitting on previous car. for now im just trying get it to fit nice before i clean it up, as it will only get grubby when fitting.

bumper is off and is coming to work with me to be painted sometime this week.

Great work, I'm well pleased for you that it's now up and running. Bet you're happy mate!

Mine's up and running too, just breached the 100 mile mark, so changed the oil again and now I'm gonna leave that in until 500 miles then change again. Still undecided about whether to carry on running in after that or call it a day and just crack on with remapping it then thrashing the living daylights out of it. Like yours, it feels strong up to 3500rpm. TBH I can't imagine what extra 'running in' it's gonna do after 500 miles that it's not already done in the first 500 as long as I gradually up the rev limit and drive it normally the whole time. I might go to 5000 rpm at 300 miles then 6000 rpm at 400, remap for full power and revs at 500+ miles. What are you planning on?

well it not technically up and running, iv drove it for about 4 miles, lol, but im planning on oil change before i take it bk out, then 100, 500 and 1000, im gonna drive it as normal as possible, but no heavy right foots untill over 1000 mile, im gonna boost slighly from word go, just nice and easy and gradual. then same as u, time for mapping, cant wait to drive it with fmic and suspension upgrades ive done. suspension is rock now. i kno it will be a bit laggy but will help keep me off boost lol untill run it and mapped.

but i wont start my running in untill 1st march, on that date my insurance starts, will be taxed and should be mot'd few days b4, then the tests begin, on rd driving for long periods, but iv waited months, so a few more days wont hurt me,

well quick update, after a few hours and problems fitting my splitter its eventually done, not perfect, but i just didnt have the time in work, and the fibre glss kept bubbling and slight head causing pin holes, so after many coats of primer, stoper and even painted and laquered twice, lol, its not perfect but its as good as i can get with the time spent on it. the bumper is being fitted to morro, pics to follow and cleaned ready for MOT monday. fmic is on, fpr is all fitted in a temp positiom, now its MOT, and run in for 1000 miles, then il go back to the details and finish up, wanna mak sure its runs before i go over board.
