If you read above, the blow through pipe that would be manufactured is for the Denso maf (newage). So i wouldnt be using the MY99 maf anyway..

I havnt tried the DV you mention, But i cant really see what difference it would make. I have used a greddy Type S and the original MY99 dv in all the following configurations to see which works best.

1. my99 recirc only ( terrible )
2. my99 recirc + greddy to atmosphere (hotside of fmic) (OK)
3. greddy only ( cold side) to atmos ( too many problems with Idle AFR )
4. Greddy (cold side as recirc) ( no difference to (1) )
5. no dump valve at all. ( best for reducing lift of judder )

for each variation with the greddy the spring tension was tried soft to hard also.

If i thought a My98 dv would make any difference and would cure it I would be doing it tonight, but in reality it will just be another variation of above. I think the blow through will be the answer for me this time. Its just finding someone to make it / buy from...

Probably around 4.6-4.7v on the MAF? I've seen nearly 4.9v on one but that car was closer to 450bhp.

I saw a for sale thread on here recently for an 70mm APS Cold Air Intake, stating that it would handle 500bhp+

On the MAFs with a larger scale than mine it will have headroom for 500bhp

Mine wont.

I am using a 70mm CAI on mine with 490 bhp.

It will go to over 500 (will be on dyno today to see whether this is the case) but there isnt a lot more room in it. Max MAF voltage 4.94 volts yesterday - 492 grams/sec.

I will be watching progress on these blow throughs.

Okay so we have established that i was wrong and wanted to overkill the size. Lets just keep em at 80mm ID then.

Everybody happy?

err...

what's happening with this now?

i've kinda lost the plot with this one..

is it a no-goer unless we get 10 people? reading through the thread again - it is the full tapered maf tube that you were gonna make isnt it? not just some weld on flange thingy-majig?

if it doesnt go ahead, i might just order one of these and hack the ends off to make my own, expensive i know but not much else i can think of doing. very few, if any suppliers of anything like this (as in maf blow through tubes) in the uk.

or could you just make me/us something like this now?

al.

And I thought it was the Chinese I had to worry about knocking off our stuff. Just kidding, guys.

For reference, we've found the following MAF sizes and the corresponding whp limits (not bhp):
65mm - 350whp
70mm - 400whp
73mm - 450whp
83mm - 560whp

With blow-thru it can be less - significantly less when elbows, transitions, and such are too close in front of the MAF sensor.

Can someone please confirm the size's everyone is happy with?

Bore size
Diameter size
Length
Place for milled part to start .... i.e 150mm in??

Also, one of the main problems I am facing .... because of our machines, is the round threaded parts where it bolts onto ...... Could these be made seperate and threaded in, if they was air tight of course?

Thanks

Cool thanks for the info ... so based on 20% transmission losses, that equates to:

65mm - 350whp - 420bhp
70mm - 400whp - 480bhp
73mm - 450whp - 540bhp
83mm - 560whp - 672bhp

i.e. Plenty for most of us.

Those bosses with the threads are not absolutely necessary. They are a minor detail that maybe gives a part that last 1% quality-wise. I have seen intakes without them, and those just use longer screws into the main flat surface.

any ideas on price yet?

Will you only make this accept the Denso maf or can you make one that will take a My99 maf or Q45 maf etc? - the only reason i ask is because i know the denso mafs are expensive and using my original or a Q45 would be much better cost wise for me - and other classic users too.

Guys,

I have been looking at this and the best price I can offer for only a 5off would be £85 each, if we can get 10 then it goes down to £65 each + delivery.

Should be able to make them for any maf i you have the size's or a sample for me to borrow.

Please let me know what you think

thanks

Personally for me, £85 is too much when i can get the boss from KS Tech and weld it myself.

Yes I understand that ..

That was priced from solid bar as we talked about last night , I haven't had a chance to phone the suppliers to see if they do tube that size .
I not after ripping anyone off or anything, it's just material would cost £20-£25 a bar .... then there is a lot of work for me programming, milling etc after

I will deffo get a quote on tube tomorrow

I understand that Chris and fully accept the work involved. It was by no means a dig at all.

Just a too expensive a solution to my issue.
