Project Rebuild / Few Mods
Block has been through a parts cleaner at alan jeffries, then its been scrubbed with jizer, then a pre painting cleaner (like solvent cleaner), Then painted.
the inside, Has had all the old gasket parts removed, then the oil gallerys have been removed and they have been blasted out, i used a evaporating cleaner for this (like carb cleaner), then put through a parts cleaner too, then cleaned again, and again, and then once more for good measures
Matt, I see you're using the early shape water crossover pipe on top of your block. What version inlet manifold is going over it? I'm sticking my v4 manifold, on spacers, over my block but was wondering whether I should use an early crossover pipe like yours, or a later one for v4 cars, which is a bit more wiggly. I have both sitting here.

If you have the choice, I'd go for the phase 1.5 crossover, it makes the car future(EJ257)proof, the phase 1 crossover fouls on the extra breather in the 257 blocks.
Ok, well today i got the bolt out that snapped off in one of the heads!, rocker covers are on. tensioner seemed a bit weak so while i was on the phone to roger clarke motorsport ordering the new modine and plugs i ordered a new tensioner too. A mate popped over to see the engine today and said it does not seem that bad to him but i would rather be causious! So tomorrow all that stuffs turning up. Once its all bolted on and timed up and cambelt covers back on, i got to get it off the stand, put the flywheel back on and the new clutch that turned up today and put the bugger back in the car.
And bioforger, you have left me with a mission, its a nightmare to clean that dipstick!

Ok today, disastar has struck! I woke up to my nice Roger Clarke deliver at 7:30, Got a lift up to where the car is and thought "Today is going to be great, im going to have my car running!". How Wrong could i of been..... First of all i went to put the new tensioner on, heard a loud snap.... followed by a lot, and i mean a lot of swear words! Now i would like to try and say that it was what i would call a "parts failure" but that would be lying. In reality some **** looked at the torque setting in NM and then set it on his torque wrench in lbft. What a plonker! At this point i was ready to just give up and go home as it had stripped the thread out of the hole, then i remembered that it did not bolt into the block but into a metal plate than bolts into the block, one phone call to Roger Clarke again and another spend and one is going to be with me tomorrow morning. So now the timing is not done and i can do much till its done. So i put the flywheel and clutch on, then put the engine back in the car, fitted a few of the cables for the new gauges, fitted the induction kit, done the electrics. Tomorrow i got to go to a wedding do in the night time so had a deadline of 6pm i can work on the car till, Not sure if it will be running or not.
Still to do,
Lights in, Front bumper on, Intercooler on, Fill with oil, put brakes on, bleed brakes, Radiator, Aircon, Altinator, Timing, Cam Belt Covers, Crank pulley, 2 more engine mount bolts, Battery, Washer Bottle, Finish Gauges, Downpipe and about 100 more things

This is the metod i used to remove the old (new) Rear Crank seal that went in too far:

Hmmm not sure, VF22, 57i, Hybrid Front Mount (installing day of simtek), All forged, 440's as standard and a warlbro 255. Maybe 320BHp as i am quite keen on having a gearbox left lol
Thought about it, but this project has gone stupidly over budget, not going to say how much i spent but its a fair more than i expected. If i found a dirt cheap FPR i would of. I will be doing it as soon as one comes up
That about 5 mins away from me, my mate live up and and has got a MY95 White, With the Later spec bumpers.
Today, it was raining. but still got a lot done! Did not take many pics because of the rain but i took one or two. will post up in a bit
