I didn't realize mms was so popular. I have always been relatively addicted to mobile phone type stuff but that must have passed me by.

I still think the iPhone is great and this is typed from one!

Dropping MMS is fine as long as the people you need to contact aren't limited to using MMS themselves...

Despite being a complete pain in the rear, that suggestion is absolutely useless if they are on holiday and don't have access to the internet

So you have to use a dodgy 3rd party tool (which may or may not work reliably) to accomplish a simple task that other phones have been doing without the need for any additional help for years. The future is here

p.s. if I send MMS messages to them using this freebie app, how do I receive the reply?

MMS is supposed to be coming but it's currently unconfirmed.

The ommision of MMS is a strange one, but I used it so rarely that I don't miss it, however, I would like it as it was something I did use in the past.

If I was NOT going to get the iPhone 3G, I think the only other phone I'd at is the HTC Diamond - I might get castrated for this, but I think its the better looking handset.... N95 is a very good phone, a mate of mine has one, likes it but says its too bulky and has been a bit unreliable - he calls it his Nokia 360...

Isn't there a service where you can email pictures to a server which then sends the message in MMS format to mobile phones? I think there is but can't be arsed to search as I've never used MMS.

Update: I could be arsed.

O2 Customer :: View topic - Start sending MMS messages from iPhone...

Scratch that, apparently not working and other methods are down due to MMS Web Applications being full of security holes.

Interesting. The iPhone is actually slightly larger and heavier than the N95, so I guess he doesn't like that either?

Had mine since last July (almost exactly a year now), and it's been 100% reliable so far (famous last words )...

It's the depth of it, I considered getting one to replace my old W850i which wasn't excatly slender, but the N95 was like a brick. The Iphone is probably larger in your hand but its a hell of a lot thinner, fits (and slides) quite easily into your jeans pocket and doesn't make it obvious that there's something in there.

Think the problems he's had with his N95 have been the screen packing up, volume control button broke & the media buttons broke - Orange have replaced it each time though. Despite those, he still wants the N96 when it comes out. A polish lad in the office also like his 8gb version due to the amount of p0rn that will fit on it...

Fair enough. I don't find the depth a problem, but then again I don't wear tight fitting jeans either
