SIDC SEASON OPENER!!! GT Circuit @ Bedford!!

Just out of interest when Stef says that he is not aware of a Scoob failing a noise test at Bedford - well Craig H and myself both failed last time - d/p and HKS Hiper exhausts.
So if you have this type of set-up then you may want to consider taking a BUNG with you as a precaution. The limit is 104db and there are also dynamic mics on the track. A Skyline was thrown out last summer.
Craig was stopped and I was warned. Fine with Bung tho - limit is 104db from memory.

Steff, just bought myself a place. Have to admit i'm a complete novice when it comes to track days, will I be getting details of what to bring etc? Also, no doubt my standard brakes won't be up to the task. How long would it take to bed in a set of big brakes /disks ?

cullenj,
I'm not exactly an expert at track days, but here goes:
i) Make sure you have a full tank of petrol - preferably Optimax! You'll use it up VERY quickly on the track, and although they do sell SUL at Bedford, it is a bit expensive (see other threads on this subject.)
ii) Bring some cash, as they only take cash on the pumps if you do have to fill up.
iii) Bring a helmet. You won't be allowed on the track without one. In can be either open or closed face, but it must be a proper crash helmet - a cycle helmet won't do.
iv) Brakes. I've got standard 4pots on my car, and haven't had any problems, but then I'm the first to admit that my driving isn't up to the car's abilities, and I've only been to a couple of track days. Nevertheless, I still only do 3-4 laps in one go to make sure thay don't get too hot. If you're a beginner, you would be well advised to go easy for your first time, in which case your standard brakes will probably be OK. Make sure that your pads/discs are nowhere near fully worn, and it may be a good idea to take a spare pair of front pads with you. I don't think there's any point in upgrading your brakes until you feel that they are holding you back.
iv) Bring your driver's licence.
v) Make sure your tyres have enough rubber left on them, but it's probably a bad idea to use new (or nearly new) tyres. They can get pretty wrecked by track driving, and it would be a shame to ruin a brand new set.
You will no doubt get an information pack from Stef in the near future telling you all this.
Please note that the above is a mixture of fact and opinion.

Would only add a couple of 'common sense' points to the above. Check all fluid levels beforehand, increase tyre pressures when you get there by upto 6lbs, bring a spare litre of oil and a simple tool kit ('cos you never know!) Take out mats and anything loose in the car. Above all - drive within your capabilities, its easy to get carried away, as the days are excellent.
Looking forward to a good day for all and meeting some new faces - See you all there.

So, if the remaining 19 places are not taken does it get cancelled? when's the cut off date? reason I ask is that if it does get cancelled how much notice will we get? I don't fancy finding out on saturday morning that it's cancelled.

Come on peeps....weather forecast is superb...we're all going for some grub and a drink afterwards for post track chat
Me and a few are coming down from up North to show you Southern softies how to get a scoob around the track properly
(Now if that don't wind the maybe's up you're softer than we thought )

How many places have been taken. Not in a position to put the car on the track at the moment but I was hoping to come and watch, unless the turnout realy going to be poor.

Oi Dock....I'm happy to buy the first round (the fact that I'll be there an hour before anyone else... ) look forward to seeing you mate
Don't worry about spectating and lack of action...there'll be plenty of that...lots of cars going, more booked up today...would be nice to have a full turnout for the seasons starter

For some mad reason I bought in today as well
So now all I've got to do is fit the new brake disks and pads (well planned), get my hands on my Link controller and pray my engine lasts the day...along with the weather...
Lee, look forward to seeing you there chap
