We've Muslim members on this very board..... and most of us have Muslim friends or acquaintances that we like and even respect.... this whole Muslims want to change us/our laws is absolute bollox, media fear mongering on the back of a couple of evil bombings perpetrated by idiots on the back of a twisted interpretation of the Koran!

So feckin what if they want to cover themselves from head to toe.....
I have lived in a muslim country so know a little about it. I have many muslim friends and aquaintances.

if you want to see how a muslim country works then visit a few, see a few but not all mulsims are quite as tollerant or westernised as some would have you belive, visit Saudi for example - of course you will need to be invited first or you will not get in.

see how they treat thier women close up.

Terorists - yes a few fanatics - in all religions. The first suicide bombing using an explosive vest was worn by a Jew who blew up a Muslim wedding/party.

The Muslim religion does not tolerate homosexuals for example and in some cases this is interpreted as a capital offence.

In some muslim countries, kids caught thieving food for example can be excecuted.

I do not want more rules ans lwas imposed on me by a minority - or then again do i?
If it was to tackle thieving - bad behaviour, alcohol problems, drugs, instaal some values or belief then maybe yes.

Or could it be that we jusat need a better way and reminding and instilling the laws values that have worked in this country for hundrends of years and making it a better place and getting out of the EU who justy see keen to fill this country with anyone from the EU who fancies free everything and not allow us to deport of maintain our own laws and values.

just a little Sunday rant

Thank god there are open minded people like DCI and Lisa. I seriously am sick of reading the racist stuff that gets said on this website.

And before anyone says don't read it.... I don't think I will anymore....

Well done France IMO.

My gripe with the birka issue is the fact that people wearing them demand to be able to do so.
Would a British girl be allowed to walk through a muslim city wearing shorts, sandles and a crop top?

No she wouldn't, all hell would break loose and she'd probably be locked up or worse.

If these people want equal rights then it cuts both ways!!

Well then....

She's not demanding to wear ANYTHING..... you'll find it's people (and governments) like yourself demanding that she shouldn't wear it, it's a change on what you're saying.... but a VERY important one!

Many "British" people do just that while on holiday.... don't think anyones been stoned recently! ..... although Muslims aren't wanting to dress for the weather and fashion.... they're trying to abide to a religeous belief.... rather than the church of Britney feckin Spears .... but don't let the facts get in the way

Good old SNET... on form as usual

In western countries thankfully people are generally free to wear what they like. This isn't what this case is about.

In my view it is perfectly reasonable to expect people to integrate if they want citizenship. Don't understand what the PC brigade are so upset about to be honest.

Integration is a simple concept and now confirmed as a requirement under French law if you want to become French.
C'est la vie!

Sorry but did any of you actually read the article? they are not denying her citizenship because she wears a tea cosy! They are denying her citizen ship purely because she has failed to integrate with French values and ways.

So, you drank alcohol in Saudi then - surely that is agianst the law and religious teachings that the Saudio take so ersiously.

I take it you understand what would have happened if you had been caught.

With that in mind It appears you condone people breaking the laws of counties who are generous enough to let them in, each to their own.

It appears that the idea of respecting the law of the land is not a major point on your moral compass then

It sure is.... but that's tolerance at work

I take it you understand what would have happened if you had been caught.
Absolutely nothing.... unless I'm falling down drunk, then I'm on the first flight home

Nope, I'm all for common sense... as previously said it's tolerated in Kingdom and the Saudis are educated enough to apply a pragmatic solution to visiting/resident foreign nationals, it doesn't bother them one bit.... they don't feel that we're attempting to change their laws etc.

A few points, she isn't a visiting foreign national. Another point, I suppose Cherie Blair wasn't attempting to change our law regarding the wearing of a burka. The French are nipping this in the bud before they get to the current situation we have here in the UK. Ban the veil, it's a physical barrier and a sign of non integration. Remember the terrorist who escaped the authorities here after wearing his wife's burka?

I make reference to residents as well

So it's not the Muslims changing laws then, it's the "British" Catholics

1 person escaped..... 1 ......... I wonder how many men have ever escaped by dressing as women? Should we also ban dresses then?

What about Indian women who wear veils? shall we ban them as well?

Muslims, Christians etc Its all bollocks anyway.

You can eat Pork, you cant eat Pork.

You can drink Alcohol, You cant drink Alcohol.

Pray because you have to, ding Kum By Yah cos you have to

Clap a lot, Wail a lot

No Sex for anyone unless married, no Masturbation for anyone at any time, not even at Christmas, yadda yadda yadda

Wear a veil over your face, wear sandals, have a big smelly beard, wear a big daft hat.

I am sorry, I cant take anything seriously that was founded 2000 plus years ago and then follow it slavishly because thats what we do, I think a lot of Muslims follow it because they have to, theres no choice as you get ostracized, like Christians used to over here, dont get romantically involved with somone who isnt "one of us" as you will get cut into small bits and buried in a suitcase, now thats a pretty compelling reason to just toe the line isnt it ?

I expect that if there is a creator, he, she, it would not advocate its creations dismembering its offsrping or burning them for spenfing time with those form another "Club", I am sorry, its all so wrong, so divisive and so unnecessary.

Guess what, if you stop praying things continue, I am happy with my lot and very rarely bark at the moon, I will take my chances with the final judgement safe in the knowledge I have had Sunday mornings to do with as I will.

Why do we have to respect all this crap, its 2000 odd years old, look at the disdain we have for Video Recorders, Analogue Mobiles, PSL and they arent nearly that old, religion does not allow for progress, its set in stone, its none negotiable and followed to the letter by those without a mind of their own.

Wear a veil if you want, but not because you are told to, and ffs dont do ot just because you are angry at those having more fun because they dont have to follow the same outdated claptrap you have to, thats whats at the root of all this, jealousy, I would be so angry at having to do all that.

Take the good bits, the community, the companionship, the morals and the festivals and ditch the dogma, fear and anger.

I am entitled to my opinion as is every religious person, call me an infidel, heathen or whatever.

Thanks for that.... nice rant BTW , now.........Back on topic

This thread is should the UK follow the French and deny citizenship to Muslims on the grounds they are submissive to their religion and don't have the same values as we (apparently) have in the UK?

It would be helpgful if someone could spell out these so called "values"
