CC, no I was not referring to you, but Darren. Naming and shaming, if it subsequently turns out to be an innocent mix-up, would put him bang in line for a libel charge. They are nasty and very expensive. I've been on both ends, so please believe me (it happens quite often in publishing, my job).
You say that your thread, if it was the one I'm thinking of, was not malicious. How are we to know that? Look at it objectively.
And what would I do under similar circumstances? I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't look at it objectively. How could I? Those directly involved in any dispute are the last people who should be making rational judgements, including me.
Best regards,
Richard.
PS On a lighter note and getting back to the point, the best way to buy and sell is to meet at a Little Chef, swap goods/cash, then sit down for an all-day breakfast together and just talk cars. Then spend another hour or two nosing around eachother's Scoobs. Makes a good day out and you get to meet new freinds. Works for me

Darren, I would try all avenues to find out where your purchase has gone, you can only do so much though. You have mentioned sending many messages without reply, while also observing the person in question is still posting on here.
If I was you I would send an email to the webmaster explaining your situation, at the end of the day, with this being a forum where the majority of members read most meterial, It would be in the general interest for this matter to come to a close without creating to much friction.
Even though there is a disclaimer for this site, I would expect someone to take a limited interest regardding the matter in hand, based on the fact that there is a for sale area on this site, it's only in their interest, it's the same with magazines providing advertisements for sellers.
I, myself have sold one product on this site and tried to keep the person upto date on cheque clearance and shipping. It's not too hard in keeping people upto date.
Hope your purchase aventually arrives
Mark

Two and a half years ago I bought some second hand disks off a guy through a mailing list group. As said above, we swapped goods and cash then had a pint. We now run a business together, so it's not all bad
Deifnately best using recorded/special delivery - special delivery gives you insurance upto £250 on damaged/lost post, I recently had to put in a claim for a dash strip that smashed in the post, the cheque finally came through from the PO, definately worth the extra couple of quid to send it that way

I would be REALLY interested if this person has sold the 'same' item a 'few' times.
The other people who replied to the post may have been 'sold' it too?? We should find out!
Not returning e-mails is bad and smacks of guilt or at the very least a lack of respect.
I hope its all a misunderstanding - the evidence does not look good however (I feel the lack of replies to e-mails may be the smoking gun)

I don;t see that you could be liable for anything if you state the facts...
I sent <person> the money in a cheque and I haven't received the goods... what could you be liable for?
If he had any decency how would he not have replied to your emails?
it is up to him to clear his name and come up with a reason.
Personally I w2ould have titled a post with is user name in saying "<name> I still haven't received my HKS" etc...
It is then up to him to reason why...
If he shames himself then that is his problem...

Jolly, I always think you have 2 "modes" in these cases: be patient, try to solve it by phone/email etc, or go the full hog which can get nasty/lawyers involved etc... for an air filter, it doesn't sound like that would be worth the trouble.
Name & shame would antagonize both parties with no hope for an "amicable" settlement.
This thread is probably warning enough to the person involved, don't you think ?
I abolutely like the "Little Chef" suggestion Hoppy gave us. Safe & fun, what more could you want.
BTW, does the UK have something like a "small claims court" like the US style ?

Check with ParcelForce or the carrier first. Jolly Green Monster was referring to a K&N filter that he sent to me and we had the delivery probs a fe weeks back.
Turned out they had delivered it to the returns dept of a local mail order catalogue, as the address was very similar. If he is mailing you asking how the filter is, he surely has sent it?
I would say first of all, ring him - if you have his address then 192 should get the number. Find out if he has sent it, and by what method.
They may all be genuine mistakes here.

I presume the posts in this thread stopped because we were all reading the TR thread!
Very sensible way of sorting it out... although not as instantly satifying as a visit with a baseball bat, but defintley a longer lasting effect.
There are such search facilities open to us too...
www.scoot.co.uk to name just one.
Good luck in getting you money back...
Keep us posted of progress..
Cheers

One more day to go,if i haven't heard anything by wednesday night at 6 pm then i will state some facts so this doesnt happen to many people again,as i've said before Scoobynet has always been honest to me and all i will be doing is stating the facts about the deal!!!!!!So no harm done there, then if the person has a valid explanation (ie courier fault) then i will explain and apologize on the net and to him verbally.
Cheers
Thanks for you support

The dirty dog needs to explain himself.Things like this blacken the atmosphere on here, but I suppose its a sort of 'leap of faith' to give out addresses and send money to total strangers.

Cant wait.
If it was you who darren is talking about. Even if you are innocent you must have known about his calls and this post. So In my books you will remain guilty. You cant realy offer any excuse after all this time.
If you have a scoob ,I hope it gets trashed.

Wouldn't normally comment on a thread like this, but:
Luke - is one thread about this not enough? I hope your driving is a little less aggressive than your postings!
Darren - You are handling this just right. Innocent till proven guilty.
