Oil type
Hi Oilman
What should i be using on a 2006 Hawkeye 2.5 wrx. Running pretty much standard ive been told lol as im no mechanic and a "girl". It has been using quite a bit of oil when i do 150-200miles but sitting with the foot down il add. Had it checked but nothing seems to be up no blue smoke or anything. I had used 10/40 but unsure if this is what is recommended and i dont know about the fully synthetic or not? Please help. I use the car everyday do the school run so i am stuck in traffic at peak times doing short journeys through the week but do goo lots of hols with kids all over the place. Alanna x

Hi Alanna
Any idea how much oil it's burning over 1000 miles?
The 2.5s often burn a drop, but if it's more than a litre in 1000, go for a 10w-50, less than a litre per 1000 miles, go for a 5w-40
10w-50
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspx
The Nanodrive CFS is, on paper, the best oil available, but the Pro S and CFS are both really good oils, so all are good choices for your car.
5w-40
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx
Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Gulf Formula G, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.
Cheers

A 10w-50 is ideal for your car if it's driven hard and these are the ones that we stock.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspx
Those are really good oils, absolute top of the range ones, so go with any brand preference you have.
A 10w-40 is a better choice for normal use
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-657-10w-40.aspx
The best ones are the Gulf Competition, Motul 300V, Redline and Millers CFS. As a cheaper alternative the Fuchs XTR, Motul 6100, Shell HX7 and Millers XSS are good choices.

Any advice for a stock 2003 STI? Used daily, usually cold start for 1 mile and then 1 mile home from work again but long trips at the weekend. Driven.. enthusiastically when possible but no plans for track yet. Short journeys was what I was most concerned about.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hi
I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

Just wanted to check what I am planning for my 2007 Hawk STI is correct. Car has sports cat and cat back exhaust (that makes sense in my head) Cold air induction kit, ported and polished turbo inlet, uprated fuel pump and has been mapped to 365bhp,380lb/ft torque. Normal driving mostly with the odd high spirited drive thrown in for good measure.
Engine - Millers CFS 5w-40
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60219-mi...ngine-oil.aspx
Gearbox and Diff - Millers CRX 75w-90
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60230-mi...ssion-oil.aspx
Is this ok?

That's ideal for the engine and should be absolutely fine, but I'd go for a straight 90LS oil in the diff, like Fuchs Race Gear 90LS, Shell TS90 or Motul 90PA

If it is for normal/fast road use, a good 5w-40 ester synthetic would be ideal. If it sees plenty of track time then a good ester 10w-50.

Hi what would you recommend for a 1998 impreza, not sure on power somewhere near 270-300hp I think, mostly short journeys, fast road use/driven hard. Was told to put 5w30 in by the guy who had it before but that seems a bit thin to me?
Thanks for you help!

Hi
A 5w-30 is okay for a post-2000 Impreza, that's standard (ish) and used on the road, but with a classic that's modified, you want something a bit thicker.
