Howdo mate - last years was just over 2000 miles as I recollect

It's true what Tony and Labman have said, it's not all about flat out action - unless you want it

Could be an Aston - who said that

Cheers Marv, so 2000 miles and how long is the trip for?

There is no list of all the details i keep whining about is there a link anywhere to last years post or something? I feel like a pain in the a**e keep asking these questions all the time and would like to get more of an idea of what the trip includes - routes, cityies taken in, trip duration etc

To price it all up, im thinking........

Fuel - aprox 2000 miles - £400 ish going on current uk prices and getting £250 miles to a £50 fill up.

Accomodation - £??

Road tolls - £??

Ferry / euro crossings - £??

Food, drink & travel cash - £??

I am genuinely interested and have the cash to do such an awesome sounding trip just want to get a rough idea in my head!

Thanks for all the replies so far guys

No probs mate - perfctly understandable to want to know more before you commit to it. Here's the link to the last run in 2007
https://www.scoobynet.com/internatio...4-30-sept.html
That should give you some more idea of the sort of thing we get up to

Default okay dokey

Route

2005 was 2800 miles, 2007 was 3300 door to door

Not finalised yet pending final recces based on the recces we have done. Approx mileage per day is 350 with the exception of day 1 and 8 most mileage will avoid auto routes

Day 1 UK to Pau France (drivers assemble)
Day 2 Pyrenees
Day 3 Pyrenees drop south to Coast
Day 4 South of France via Alpes de Maritime
Day 5 North into Alps
Day 6 Alps
Day 7 Luxembourg (tbc)
Day 8 to uk with option for drivers to go to ring.

Accom

We aim to provide 3* accom once route is confirmed with will look at accom so we can fix price.

Car

Any performance car will do, as a driver you will join a group and the leader will try and maintain a pace suitable for all according to conditions (frankly and being on SN will word this carefully) a WRX/STI/Evo in standard from will deal with the road combinations and have more than enough performance to keep in touch. What we do recommend is that the car is well maintained and that your brakes are ready for some challenging roads. Last year we had bad weather and frankly a 1.6 focus would of kept up, if its dry then obviously suspension, brakes, performance etc are plus's and do get used but power is not complusory by any means. Its your car and you should drive well with in your ability. If you want to find your/car limits prior to trip we offer driver training to attendees

Cost

Ive shared my room in previous years and shared all costs, fuel accom, insurance etc and taking that approach frankly its a bargain. We do not recommend passengers in the rear.

Last years costish was £650 accom/ferry, fuel £580, euro cover £35, Tolls £60 allow for a service and new pads, tyres etc prior to trip, beer wise due to the amount of driving the bill isnt bad unless you meet a Saga group out meat hunting :-)

Go on to Track Masters.co.uk there are loads of press links on the there to read

This sounds absolutly awesome and although my wrx is pretty much stock apart form lowered suspension and a strut brace theres still plenty of time to do some upgrades for the trip!

Ok one last question before i go off to read through last years post, how many spaces are left and do we pay for everything ourselves or is like the accomodation done as one big booking so would i need to send a payment/ deposit to someone?

Thanks Marv & Storm, spot on replies

Oooops - got the mileage a bit wrong in original guesstimate!!

Not sure how many spaces are left, Stormy is one of the main organisers so he'll tell you that. No deposits have been paid yet tho

You don't pay yourself for accommodation or ferries as that is done by the organisers - you pay them for that and they did take instalments on the last two trips so not sure if that will happen again this time. You pay for fuel, tolls & beer individually

This is a superb opportunity to drive some fantastic roads, is well organised and it's all done in great company, I can't wait

I can only second what Marv has said, great roads, great cars, great people, I've done both trips so far plus 2 Euro Combos (the 'Ring + Spa) and had a fantastic time. Personally I prefer to have a second driver in the car and share the driving. Downside is that you don't get to drive all the great roads, but upside is that you are not so knackered every evening, and get the chance to see at least half the magnificaent scenery you are travelling past,a nd you halve teh petrol bill! A lot of trust required to let someone else loose in your pride and joy on those mountain roads though!

Stormy is spot on about speed/performance cars, you soon work out which group is driving at a pace you are comfortable with, and last year I was in my Merc 600sl, which although over 400bhp is also over 2 tons so not exactly sprightly. I led out group all week, and had no complaints about the pace we kept up (quick but not silly) and we never even had a sniff of any of the local gendarmerie , but then that may be as we tended to travel at different times than the rest of the group.

I would also recommend a TomTom (or similar) with Western europe maps. I spent a long time before each trip inputing all the routes in detail into the itinerary planner so that on the day I just got up, switched on the TomTom and loaded that day's route, saving any anxiety over navigating, plus the TomTom actually works quite well as "pace Notes" showing you where the road goes next round that blind hairpin!

Cheers Stu and Marv, yeah i have a tom tom, will have to look at getting the european memory card then someone would have to help me load in the itineries i tried to do that for the recent 'tunnel run' and totaly messed it up lol

I'm pretty much there guys, just wondering how many space are left as my mate has a Lotus exige and he loves things like this he's always over in Europe on little road trips i reckon it'd be right up his street

Cool

Spaces as Marv says no bookings yet.

Have another couple of recces to do then I sort out Hotels, then fix prices of to check out Nice north Col de Turini etc in 2 weeks time

We normally take payments in installments as it helps all (including me)

Where peeps want to share I broker that

Plan is to aim to confirm route in dec/jan price in Feb places are reserved with a 50% payment final payment a month prior to event

Ref Exige cool I may even have one by then

Great recce report Stormy, excitement building already, especially having done the long boring I15 from Vegas to LA the other week, will be good to see some real bends.

Are the dates in June confirmed now. I'll need to let my co-driver know as he might not be able to make it.

Having driven day 1, 2 and 3 on Recces you may find the bridge a "bridge too far":-)

Several options you drive bridge en-route to trip assembly in Pau Im sure others would join you. Or on day 3 as you drop south of Andorra you go north to the bridge then pick up fast stuff south to the coast.

Maybe we can make it an option route for day 3. Either follow the route you and mrk suggest or go our own way and get completely lost

On another note, anyone up for buying their Euros now before it drops any further? £1 to 1 euro!!
