i am really sorry guys to spoil your fun but the king will have to beat my 323bhp,302lb/ft figures for a uk car first. only then he will be worthy of the crown.

I was actually considering making a little device with a 32 bit ARM RISC chip with a little remap of the MAF sensor, MAP sensor, ignition timing by modding the crank position sensor using MAP and TPS inputs for load and ..... but then I woke up and decided I couldn't be arsed. Why did I buy that ******* Prodrive ECU? I am older and only slightly wiser now
I don't know what I'll do, but I need to go quicker - Evo 7 or mod the hell out of the Scooby?? Then there is her indoors to contend with....

perhaps we should book Dave and the select monitor for an hour,so they can plot the boost and ignition timing between my black ecu and your prodrive ecu on the same car with or without Dawes (with the same boost for both).

john,
if you do decide to keep on modding remember the gearbox is the weak link, i too have a prodrive car, i used a bleed valve to increase boost to 19psi (20 max) 3 months later cooked the box !! ouch.i have heard from a reliable source that it is the torque increase which does the most damage.

you forgot that i also hold one of these gearboxe destructor crowns. as i also blown 3 of these
the people that knew me well, knew that i loved my scooby and spent a lot of time, money, effort, headaches modifying my scoob, nothing but the best i could find wentin it. but after my third gearbox i realised i just could not keep the performance.

Sam,
Yeah u r right bud, sorry i`d 4got bout ur breakages m8.
We have a special branch of the crailthrashers club for Dave n Me it`s the Crailtrashers U coulda had a membership
Remember the blether we had jus b 4 Christmas about "how 2 get stupid power outta a scoob and make it last"
The plan is gonna be stuck to m8 (at least till the plastic won`t take anymore)
General,
Like with all motas, things break and when u r tryin 2 do summin with them they r not designed for it happens more often (drag racing a good example). Bear in mind my mota is one of the first or second batches of imprezas ever made for distribution, that coupled with the draggin is why i accept breakages. It`s an opportunity 2 upgrade wot ever breaks
Bottom line with all motas though is as we all know, the power is available if u wanna suffer the wallet ache
And yeah I am It`s worth it jus 2 c the looks i get when blowing away motas that shouldn`t have a prob with a lowly old WRX

Note the time
I've popped in late tonight cause I've been tinkering again.I've caught the VF bug & now introduced my scooby to the 23 variety .
Noticing a difference above 5000 rpm now, boost comes in slightly later & harder.Did a wee demo run with Scott watching, hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear & Scott's face was a picture. He then jumped in the car and said "watch this" & done the same, when you hit the limiter it spits huge blue flames..nae wonder he was grinning so much
I'm still running 1.3bar and hoping to get another power run @ Star this wednesday to compare graphs & recheck the fuelling/det.If all is well then maybe up a wee bit more & see if it'll go the 300 mark
Hoping to claim the crown for king of the non prodrive or linked Uk car without fmic power figures
Sam, I've raced a standard Evo 7 at Crail last year & beat it.It came back to the next thrash and left me sitting....obviously been away getting tweeked.Recon with a good launch you should run 12's with all that power you've got You fancy coming along with us lot on the 24th??

hi Dave
it will be good to see your results, i got 280bhp with VF23 running 1.2 bar, so with 1.3 it should be close to 300bhp me thinks.
i think i will be coming over to crail but i need few practice starts. i have tried last week to time myself to 0-60 and i could really get it below 5 secs but again i was launching from 3000rpm. i am not sure if my clutch can take it!! but i will give it a good try

Thanks for your figures, out of curiosity how much did you gain with the fmic? The gains on Petes speak for themselves, just wondering what to expect from a UK model.
Good to hear you're up for it, Dont worry about the clutch, I can soon fit a better one for you.Best revs for launch is just above the bogging down point...so keep practicing

"Best revs for launch is just above the bogging down point" - that is helpful Dave. What point was this on your Superchipped TD04L car - I expect it would be the same on mine? I get full boost below 2500rpm now and it is much more difficult to bog it - does this mean about 3000rpm?

Ooooh I think you will need more than 3k John
I've read that 5k is about the quickest way to get away, probably also a quick way to toast your gearbox as well
Interestingly, there are a number of people in the states claim that 5k+ revs, blipping it to build boost, then sidestepping the clutch Supposedly gives the gearbox less torque to deal with as the tyres break traction
Oh, and I'm going for the underdog title of fastest old WRX, non prodrive non FMIC, non Linked, non Apexi'd, non Sti, non VF turbo'd, non Superchipped, non Dawes'd' and finally, non red

My normal dry launch is between 3-3500 giving it blips to keep the turbo spooling and feed in the power as you are on the last bit of clutch release. One the clutch is up, its full chat all the way changing gear as quick as poss.
Wet launches usually 2-3000 releasing the clutch slower and feeding in the power more gently to limit the spin.Or sometimes try the nutters 4-4,5000 and side step it.Spectators love to see a scooby launch sideways, snaking off the line with the wheels lit up
God a need a Crail fix..roll on 24th

I guess it will depend on the weather, this time of year Crail can be pretty quiet
All it needs is for the sun to come out though and you'll not see the track for Nova's Q n Q n Q

Dave,
Wot u no like my technique then ?
[qoute]4-4,5000 and side step it
It`s when u get up2 the 6-7K launch it`s a bit disturbing ) specially when all 4 wheels spin then ya end up bouncing off the rev limiter cos can`t get through the gears fast nuff, an end up makin an **** of a good launch an get cuffed by an RST or summin
Can remember doin that on a regular basis with the paddle
Think this year I`m gonna adopt a more mechanically simpathetic launch technique
Sam,
No worries bout the attendance m8 we always make sure we`re there early nuff 2 get some phun in b 4 the crowds
Andy,
On the strip most of the novaboys will pull back 2 let u lineup with summin more likely 2 give u some "sport"
Pete
