You seem to reveal your hand and say its a Euro vs IM issue - not really a "the Impreza is a bad car". I think you need to do a bit more in depth research. Audi do discriminate againt Euro owners, so do Renault, so do VW should I go on. You go buy an Audi abroad and then ask a dealer to to buy it. I had to drive my old S3 into central London for them to check the VIN plate before a dealer would buy it. Ask most dealers if they would buy an imported car. You'll find most wont for political reasons.

You made your choice to save money abroad. Why expect 100% service from dealers who you scorned to start with. This isnt an anti import view, It looks like I'll get my M3 imported, but I know I WILL receive second class service afterwards. Ive bought an import before and knew what to expect. Looks like you didnt.

Question

On the topic of dealers doing waranty work, I did hear that they barely cover their costs for doing this work and it is not the huge bonus for them that the public think.

Can anyone confirm or refute this?

Thumbs down

Jonathan,
thanks. A mate of mine actually bought a TT from a UK dealer- the dealer had imported it themselves from Germany! He's had no problems so far (though admittedly he's not tried to sell it yet.?

Mick,
If Subaru sell you an out of warranty replacement clutch they add between 35% to 60% on top of the cost of the clutch as their margin. Fair enough, they are running a business. If they do it under warranty they are supplied the clutch but have no markup on it. They will make a small profit from labour charges, but not anything like they make from the parts markup
