Hahahaha 'French piece of coveted motoring excellence' Trev?
I have been on it though chaps; engine to gearbox bolts sourced and fitted - Thanks to Paul at XS for them
Removed front ARB -it's a rusty piece of crap- and drop links which have turned a nice shade of rust
Drop links are now de-rusted but i think the spherical bearings are FUBAR...photo to follow
Best news is i've just booked the next two weeks off and have very little to do to the house

Whitline drop links, Ian? These ones, http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_..._number=KLC139
Had an advisory on mine at the last MOT. Going to replace them with CDF one's most likely.

mine are the spherical ball joints rather than bushes...a mistake I'd like some compliance back
Almost forgot to mention; drive shaft pins...one in smooth as you like. The other side wasn't. The pin snapped whilst only a little way in so I had to knock the snapped section out from the 'wrong' side without the divet. So I thought I may as well carry on and fit it but the pin won't go all the way through and now its stuck. All I can come up with is removing the pin, disconnect drive-shaft and spin the stub axle 180 degrees and try again with another pin...hopefully it will go through smoothly. Makes no sense though because the splines mean the hole is either lined up or its way out so how the hell can I get a pin 3/4 through?!

I'll be checking in daily next week EXPECTING daily updates
the Whiteline b/joint type (KLC139) are very robust in our experience although the older (discontinued now) rose joint ones didn't fare well with salt/road crud/etc...............
for your use Mickey you'd be far better off with std OEM style b/joint links IMO

Day 1
All prep today to make life easier and stop me getting side tracked over the next two weeks...reorganised shed so I could move all the gardening, wood and paint out of my workshop.

Way better

Even made a frame to stop the laurel hedge growing over the door swing

All bikes bar two now in the bike shed too...

So now I have a tidy spacious workshop

Had to restore order after buying a Henry too...

Did manage one car related thing...cleaned droplinks up after a prolonged soak in rust treatment. They are working but I'm still going to replace them for more compliant versions

Day 2
Only a half day as my sister visited so I spent all morning playing on the trampoline with my 3 year old niece

Last non wagon jobs for now; diagnosed misfire on blue car to a dead injector so as this is the second I've had fail I've ordered three new Bosch ones from Eurocarparts, 40% Easter sale FTW. Fitted front and rear spacers to blue car...stance baby, well kinda

Front arb and bush holders stripped for paint...no paint though as I've run out of the blue straight to rust Hammerite...

Stripped and painted throttle cable guide...

Bastid job for last, fitted the crud guard to the back of the engine which I forgot to fit before dropping the lump in...so had to pull it out to get access, thanks to Ross for an extra pair of hands...all done now though. Fun jobs start tomorrow
