I think I'll be waiting for the gearbox\diffs to be honest; parts coming over from Oz that haven't even been ordered yet

from what I've read\conversations I've had 500\500 is about as much as the non-caged classic chassis can really put on the road without trying to separate itself from the drive train...so yours is pretty much spot on
Lets face it anything about 400\400 in a classic is just plain scary

I have considered a cage so I can fit some harnesses up properly. Added stiffness is also a factor. Cadwell in Oct and looking to get some more track time in now it's 'finished'.

Finished this year do you think?

Barring nasty delivery complications with the PPG kit it will get done
Wow what a thread!! I've just spent 3 hrs of my lovely bosses time reading this rather than working!! whoops!!
After my other half told me to sell my beloved MR2 when she became pregnant, i decided to bite the bullet and get my other childhood dream car, a silver wagon.
At first i thought there would be nothing for me to play around and modify with, how wrong you've just proved me. Look forward to reading on with this tread and good luck buddy!

Life keeps getting in the way of the build lol
will be finished this year barring unforseen circumstance...I'm not going to let it get past the three year stage (28.01.2012
).
Good luck with the refresh

clutch has arrived; very pretty shame to cover it up...

...if this was NASOIC I'd say "twin plate JDM goodness", its not so I won't

...complete with a new push type conversion slave cylinder and fork.

Unfortunately work commitments mean I won't be able to get over to SMG until next week

Finally got over to SMG to see Steve and Mo, another car load of stuff for the engine and a few bits Steve recommended I run through their parts washer...predictably I forgot a couple of things but they are small\light enough to post so all good

Steve kindly brought one of my heads that is obviously work in progress to show me; matched to my bores, post chamber mod and half way through a gentle port. Really pleased to see actual physical progress on the engine.

Good and bad news though; good news Mo has checked the deck heights and they are spot on so I can run a 1.1mm Cossie gasket so along with the head work compression and squish should be spot on for my target. My crank pulley isn't going to be used after all, Mo has an sti variant I can have
Bad news is there were two bent exhaust valves...pita but a good excuse to slap an uprated set in; Supertechs here we come. Always a pleasure going to SMG, can't thank Steve and Mo enough for being so candid about everything
Gearbox parts should be here from Oz next week, there was a delay at PPG but they have assured us they are now en route. So Gazza at GR Performance should have a gearbox for me in the next few weeks. As I've said I'll be going DCCD so Gazza is going to change my Suretrack rear diff gear to match, another very nice man
All on track to miss it's third year off road anniversary although I do need to chase Tractive for information; trying to get the unlock code for wideband (big thanks to TimH for all his help with the lambda and loom...I'll get the info eventually Tim
), functionality and a cost for upgrading to the latest Hydra firmware. Painfully slow unfortunately.
