It's because he mentioned the roundabout. If you lose grip in an subaru you can accelarate out of a roundabout, where as 2wd cars can't. In straight line braking the 205gti would be better because its lighter. Using gears is a tough one to call.

But at that point you would be off the brakes and trying to accelerate out of the slide where the Impreza would pull even further away

Yes If he would have done this without mentioning the roundabout it would have been far easier.

Again you're confusing handling and grip. Handling isn't really a function of grip, the ability to accelerate or even better braking. You can have a much slower car than say an Impreza which has better handling.

When are you going to grasp that simple fact and stop banging on about stuff we already know like the fact the Impreza has a differential?

How is stating this confusing handling and grip
Am only banging on about it because of statements made by you

Which statements? I'm happy to go through them if it will help you understand better.

This is totally pointless. What ever I say you will have a negative or disagree with it anyway

Lets just leave it at that.

The handling performance of a car is a function of the car, the driver's ability, and the performance of the tyres. The driver's performance is crucial. It's also the most flexible and easily adjustable element of the three.

Driver behaviour and thus performance wholly depends upon the beliefs and values held by the driver.

the subaru is not a cheap car to run but then most subaru owners know that before they buy. kind of what you would expect though from a road going rally car, after all is not 325i. sure you already know this though as your keen to spoil this forum with your mystic meg knowledge.

The Impreza isn't a 'road going rally car' it has about as much to do with a rally car as a Fiat Cinquecento. There are a proportion of people who like to believe that it is and some even go the lengths of covering their cars in stickers like an airfix model.
The Impreza is a modest japanese saloon car with a modicum of power in turbo form and AWD. Nothing more.

I have no idea what you mean by 'mystic meg knowledge' and frankly I don't think I want to.

I'm not into transvestism either.

What about the PWRC? It doesnt take much to prep the likes of a type RA for rally and for it to be relativly quick. Not quite sure how well a fiat cinquecento would do in comparison

So you're now talking about an extremely low volume variant of the Impreza needing 'not much prep' to enter fairly low level competition?
That somehow makes the vast majority of Imprezas 'road going rally cars'?

I think when people say that, they talk about how quick they can be in bad conditions etc. So for someone to make the comment 'road going rally car' about something they drive it has to be a fully prep'd rally car that they drive on the road...come off it! Maybe not everyone takes themselves so seriously, and they are referring more to the cars capability, which, when they came out made them road going rally cars in terms of how quick they could be over everyday roads.

I'd like to believe that's the case but I think the reality is that there are a number of people on here who seem to have idea they'd be able to drive straight onto a stage.

Not only that but all this nonsence about old out dated cars? My mate's cossie will blow anything away thats put next to it including ur precious Porsche Turbo's.

P.S Don't really care how long u been on the site, ur talkin BS and must be if all u do is spend time on Forum's, i know i'd rather be drivin my Scooby

Explain exactly what you believe is 'BS'.

Your 'kill' list is very impressive, does it make you feel like a big man?

Your friends Sierra sounds great, I also like the look of your car, it's a fact though that both are now outdated cars. For that matter so is my 996.

Milling- the only people disliking what's being said is you and your ilk. I don't 'dislike' anything that's being said.

We just love your post Guv 'Spec C' Dhillon, says everything we are all thinking.. Go and find yourself something to do Nacro, your obviously sad and bitter and come across as awfully frustrated and feel the over all desire to just winge, something must be biting your bum either that or your wishing it would. Your last post sounds quite personal, your obviously a little man ?

Even though Nacro admits he likes scoobies and has had them in the past and probably will again, he has to realise a lot of us will defend an impreza's honour as we are all mostly very proud owners of them, as would other members on the MLR, GT-r forums etc.

Im big enough to admit when something is better, but I cringe when I think that some of these new hothatches might be better performance wise than an Impreza, its somethign I hate to ponder, the truth is, most of these new Astra's, Fiesta ST, Focus ST, have to spend a lot of money on handling, suspension and re-maps to compete with most standard scoobs, so Im totally convinced that somehting like my sti ppp (plus a re-map in summer) is definetely NOT outdated by a long chalk.
