End of the day i'm not saying i'm an excellent driver or a bad one, but the fact is you my friend, are a troll. Define troll on scoobynet: somebody who comes on said website just to get people's backs up with petty comments in slagging scooby's off and people who drive them, it's quite obvious that this is a subaru website and we are all passionate about our cars, i live in the real world i know it is not the best car in the world far from it, but i know one thing is that i love driving it, so my friend as the old saying goes, if you haven't got anything good to say, don't say anything at all

I had an old shape R32 before my STi PPP and they are brilliant cars. I only wish they would go back to the mk iv design with the improved power and chassis this would be a great car indeed

Don't really like the mk v design to be honest, the mk iv just has a very hard look about it My Sti PPP was a good bit faster but 100 times less luxurious so it's all about what you want or are willing to sacrifice

All that said my current Cayman S is all of the best bits put together (well perhaps not space though ) So here's to Porsche and all they know about building proper, daily use, sportscars

That said if you are thinking about an R32.... just do it because you will not be disappointed one bit

I like Subaru cars as well. Tell me where 'I've slagged them off'?

The fact you love driving your car is the main thing surely? It occurs to me that people on here are doing nothing other than projecting their own insecurity and inadequacy onto people like me who dare to suggest that racing on public roads, accelerating to the max in wet conditions and generally acting like an idiot in their cars isn't a good idea.

Re: the trolling accusation. If someone you don't like tells you the house is on fire you don't stick your fingers in your ears and say 'I don't like you, I'm just going to call you names and ignore you'. You get out of the godamn house or put the fire out.

.
So are you telling us you never break the speed limit?
Never accelerate hard etc etc??
Why bother buying a performance car just get an electric car, driving pleasure will be about the same as a performance car within the law/speed limits.
Or is it just to look good

I don't break speed limits no. I don't need to, if I want to drive fast on public roads I take a half hour drive and hit the autobahn.
Certainly I accelerate hard when it's safe to do so and I often attend track days so I probably have more chances than most to enjoy my car.
Admittedly I look good when I'm driving the car but I even managed that when I was in my Impreza which is no mean feat!

Hop you can get a manual box though.
Info comes from my VW dealer which is a big one, very well informed and professional, so I'd say it's pretty much definite. They even had some internal VW presentation of the whole Golf mkVI range apparently, and the R36 was indicated as mid-late 2009.

It will have a re-tuned version of the Passat R36 engine (300hp), with about 10hp more and a more aggressive delivery, also with louder exhaust sound (as per the "philosophy" of the current R32).

The new DSG will be a 7-speed one, which is also used on the upcoming Audi RS and S models. Trust me after trying DSG you might not want the manual box ... quick and smooth, automated "heel-and-toe" on downshift, paddles mean never having to let go of the steering when braking and cornering hard, ...

Usual big brakes, reworked suspension and R touches such as recaro seats, flat-bottomed steering-wheel, 18" lightweight alloys, etc.

I really enjoy my R32 so if all goes well I will definitely move on to the R36 once launched in 2009.

That's the old R32, the new one has 250hp.

Average times in various car tests have been:

6.2 0-60 manual (as low as 5.8 in some tests)

5.8 0-60 DSG (as low as 5.6 in some tests).

It's more impressive once moving; being quite heavy the initial "inertia" doesn't make it the best 0-30 machine.

As written before, on the TG track it did a 1:30.4 vs a 1:30.1 for the STI.

These figures are fair enough but the R32 performs better once rolling. I outdragged a WRX when I had my R32 and it was fairly easy. He pulled away briefly at a roundabout but I quickly caught and passed him and before anyone says "he wasn't trying" he was because he looked well annoyed at being passed by a big, heavy golf These cars are much quicker than most realise and they handle extremely well too, something that also surprises people because of the bad press the mk iv chassis always got The R32 is a real sleeper car in my view and it also has a ridiculously huge set of brakes so works well in all departments
They are no match for an Sti or anything more powerful but if you want to try it on with one in a standard WRX be warned... you may end up feeling a bit silly That is really why I bought an STi PPP as I wanted something faster than before
Please don't start talking about modifications as that applies to both cars, I am talking standard versus standard ok

You're now quoting from other threads and in any case that isn't 'slagging scooby's off', it's merely stating the reality of the situation. The Impreza remains a very capable motor.

I hear what you're saying, but on a sporty car, I prefer to change the cogs myself. Nothing like driving down a good road getting your gear changes just right. The few tenths you'd gain with DSG is minimal.

The only time I'd get DSG is on a Diesel.

If I were lucky to be able to buy a ferrari, it'd be a manual.

I was thinking exactly like you, even arguing my point with people, then I tried DSG for 24 hours ... ... ordered the R32 with DSG and would find it annoying to go back to stick-shift.

Perfect, fast up and down shifts without moving your hands when you are really pressing on, quite a smooth relaxing auto when you are in traffic.

IMHO it's the future and cannot be beaten

Sounds an enticing spec and very tempting I'm also particularly interested to see what exotic incarnations of the new Audi TT might appear. However, as NACRO will probably point out in a minute, its 4-wheel drive will make it crap and underline the fact I'm a crap driver

4 wheel or AWD doesn't make a vehicle 'crap' and I've never said so. My own car has a 4WD system, however I don't rely on as a substitute for good judgement.

In fact the new TT 3.2 is a car that punches well above it's weight in terms of handling satisfaction and the outright grip that Impreza drivers seem obsessed with. I was lucky enough to have one for a weekend and equipped with magnetic ride I'd say it's a worthy rival for the Cayman S which is no mean feat considering it costs 10-15 grand less.

All I've said is that there are a lot of clueless people here who can't discern between handling/grip and that seem to use AWD/4WD as a sop to mask their lack of skill.

NACRO, just a thought: considering that (as you are stating) you are young, good looking, athletic, with plenty of cash and a 911 turbo ... what the hell are you doing wasting all your time online (4000+ posts!)??? You should have many more fun things to do than to post here so much !

That suggests by inference that the typical scoobynet poser is a middle aged, bald, ugly, impecunious, fat git. I don't believe that for a minute.

As for my post count when you're on a 14 day on and 14 day off pattern it's good to share thoughts with your friends in 'cyberspace'

Actually I've just scrolled up this thread and the post count of all users is between 100 and 400 ..... except for you: 4000!

Must be pretty boring being a "young good looking athletic rich guy with a 911"

Only joking mate!

PS. don't look at joining date ... I've been here years longer than you and I'm yet to reach 300 posts ... have a real life you know, not a virtual 911

I'm 1999 old skool, as I said just 2003 under this user name.

As for 'scoobynet poser' it's a most apt and fortuitous typo.

I hate to mention it but a 996 Turbo ie four wheel drive and with a remap nearly 520bhp.

I'm an ex owner of a 'classic' Impreza wagon (modded to 300bhp) and a blobeye 2003 PPP saloon with a few braking handling mods. Both cars missed.
