Ahhhh... Of course, but the Lotus Games were pretty much Amiga exclusives though surely?

Theres a PC game built on the U3 engine that isn't a million miles away from AB. Can't remember what its called now.

This works if you want to play Alien Breed

Download Alien Breed | abandonia

Wasn't there an Alien Breed AGA version specifically for A1200/CD32 and A4000 machines?

This thread is making me feel really old

It does bring back fond memories of playing Lotus 2 when I should have been at college. 2 Amiga 1200's, split screen on each machine, a dodgy home made link cable and hey presto an afternoon of fun for 4 skiving students. We also used the link up lead for Falcon and Populous, but those were a bit more serious. I've still got the boxed 1200 with 80Meg hard drive in the loft.

Speedball 2 was unbeatable for violence.

I had an A500 with a kickstart 1.3 rom soldered in, so I could boot the Amiga 40HDD without using a floppy 1st Then I got a CD32 n hooked it up with a kb n mouse, n then networked the A500 with it. I was an uber geek in my youth. Oh I had the original amiga A1000 to, jus so I could amaze my friends by playing the Miami Vice soundtrack from it, iirc I had to swap 8 floppies in n out for the duration of the tune

Us A1200 owners must have been lucky then, as maybe Kickstart 3.0 had the ability to boot-up the hard drive without a floppy. Must admit once I had the HDD fitted to my A1200 at the time, it made game and demo playing a lot easier

I remember them

Most of the stuff I got for mine were by swapping stuff at a computer club on a Monday night.

Has anyone decided to buy a second hand Atari ST or Amiga by just reminiscing from this thread?

Ah, the good ol'd days

Think I might go and play SWOS or Speedball II on the 360 now to remind myself how good things really were

Wow That looks good. I take it this thing is better than say an AMIGA emulator for the PC?

I don't know whether you would say it's better - I'll guess we'll found out when compatibilty lists start to filter in. It also depends what you want to do I suppose.

There is a 'rival' proect known as Clone-A. It is intended to be 100% compatible and smaller than minimig. They reckon they could get the AGA chipset done too - making an A1200 version available. That would be cool in a mini-itx box and connected to the living room TV The company behind that made some very cool hardware for the Amiga and have a good hardware track record - Individual computers

Will definately be keeping an eye out that then. Hopefully they will provide theirs with a case.

Just been on Ebay and noticed these people selling Brand new Amigas:

eBay.co.uk Shop - Analogic Computers UK Ltd: Amiga: Amiga CD32 Games Console, Amiga CD32 Games Console with Floppy Drive

Didn't think there was such a thing as a new Amiga.

Analogic used to be an Amiga dealer so it's possible they have some stock I suppose.

Think I paid about £40-50 for my CD32, boxed - about 4 years ago.

Xenon, ace game, never got past the second level, but it was bloody amazing. Or pysignosis's (sp) barbarian, again, never got very far just remember the "huh" noise that the character used to make

Just remembered, anyone play Valhalla, where you wandered dungeons, with an overhead perspective

might have to get some cables plugged in tommorow

Not lucky. The tech of the A1200 was years ahead of the 1st A500's, but yes Kickstart 3 did include bootup code. It was only kickstart 1.2 in the 1st A500's that didn't have this ability. I also remember having to unplug the floppy drive, to run certain 'large' demos/games as it used a small bit of RAM to support it

Nice bit of info there. Out of the matter of intrest what is/was the best upgrade card you could fit to an A1200 via the trapdoor? Also how much extra RAM will the A1200 support?

Not sure how much Ram they supported - I ran an 68030 processor with 8mb Ram in. That was pretty much the most you could get in for heat reasons CPU-wise.

I believe there were 040 versions for desktop A1200's but they suffered from overheating. Maybe even an 060 version too.

The tower converted A1200 had 040/060 and even PPC.

This thread has got me re-visiting all my old Amiga bookmarks. I was heavily into Amiga's even after everyone else moved on! Got one of the 'new' hardware board - The AmigaOne somewhere with the intent of running OS4. Just never got around to setting it up
