Just received an NIP...

Pete out of interest does it give a colour of the Trooper, reason I ask is if it was a stolen one with copies of your plates on. One of my mates had his stolen from Braintree over the weekend and it has vanished from the local area. It may have gotten as far as Shropshire in that time..

Guys
Thanks again for all your help. I have now spoken to teh officer who issued the NIP.
He seemed genuinely surprised and concerned when I said I hadn't been in the area since the Network Q rally.
It was not a camera, but an eye witness. He asked that I write in stating that both myself and the vehicle were in Basildon all day and that there are many witnesses to this.
He wasn't dealing with the offence, but said he will speak to the officer dealing with the case.

Pete, it is a thumbs up, I had a similar experience a little while ago.
My only option was to write a very factual letter to MrPlod, whys, wherefores, dates, locations etc.
After about two weeks I got a 'phone call at work..."on this occasion we will not be pursuing the matter in light of your letter and the facts stated".
I do hope that you stick to your guns, if you are not guilty then you have to fight the bast@rds.
Hope you get it sorted.

Ooo, missed this one.
I'm pretty sure I know the crossing in question. The section of the A49 leading up to it (heading South) is pretty wide and quite, erm, quick
No cameras that I remember, although Geodesy's aren't meant to trigger on traffic light cams (says so in the manual).

Pete,
If you are to be charged with dangerous driving, please go and get a solicitor. The charge is one that carries a custodial penalty and you will get legal aid if that is the case. When is your first court appearance? I live in Essex, os I can advise you on decent solicitors and possibly even represent you. Call me on 07968 120721 or email me on andrewmazibrada@hotmail.com
It is quite important that if you have an alibi, that you get a statement from anyone who was with you now, so that it'll carry more weight later.
Good luck and call me if you want.
Maz.

Glad you seem to be getting this resolved
Were you tempted to refer them to the Idris Francis case ? If I do get NIP'd I will use every procedural device, then if that fails, use the Francis case

I had a Vauxhall Corsa stolen a few years ago. The buggers found an identical model (1.5TD) and put a copy of their plates on. It was driven around for weeks before a local cop recognised the little ****e driving it and pulled him over. The git got out stood on the pavement and denied knowing about or driving the car, he of course was found not guilty in court even though the police had the car for a week trying to get a print !!!
Good Luck

I got a letter from British Transport Police, yesterday, dropping all charges and apologising for any inconvenience and distress caused.
Thanks so much for all of your help. On here, in private mails and on the phone. Thanks again.
