Wisdom Tooth removal
I see them teeth didn't give you much wisdom Lou!
Seriously though, I had to get 2 of mine out under local (the bottom right one took six injections to numb (one which went directly into my blood stream, mental feeling as it's adrenaline
)) Anyhoo they had to cut the crowns into 4 separate pieces to pull them out, tbh it was a horrible experience
I still got the top 2 one of which is starting to crumble.
I now hate going to the Dentist after what happened with the bottom two, hate the thought of injections now, If you can get it done under general, then go for it unless it's a straight pull.

I had my bottom two out a good few years ago now, basically they seemed to be damaged when they grew in, causing me toothache and one of them started to disintegrate! I had them removed one at a time with a few weeks in between, both of them broke up when the dentist was trying to remove them, resulting in a surgical removal -- not pleasant!
Just had my other two removed a few months ago, was fearing the worst but these were both out in 10 minutes, bif of bleeding and a quick rinse with salty water (yuck!) and I was on my way. Walked back home, felt fine so went back to uni about an hour later! I took some paracetemol in with me just in case but I never took them as I didn't feel the need. A few days avoiding strenuous exercise and eating soft food and I was sorted.
Surprisingly the rest of my teeth are near perfect, I do make a point of looking after them and avoiding sugary foods. No idea why I had so many problems with my wisdom teeth.

My worst thing about going to the dentist is that for some reason I seem to be immune to the injections ! When I had one tooth out, they had to give me 7 injections before it started going numb - even then it wasnt completely as I could still feel it but just told him to go ahead and pull it out as I was getting fed up waiting.
I had one tooth out when I was a kid, and they just gave me one injection and I could still feel everything so started moaning when they started pulling it out. Dentist ( miserable old cow ) was telling me it didnt hurt and to stop making a fuss. Makes me wonder how much she would have screamed if I'd just wrenched one of her teeth our with no anaesthetic.

Wisdom teeth removal, extraction - symptoms, pain & complications
Presume you have had a look on the net but the BUPA sheet above is a good summary and guide ....
Just remember that there are two completely different procedures depending on whether the teeth are impacted or not.....and along with the fact that top ones 'tend' to be easier to extract than bottom.
Those whose teeth have been a doddle to get out tend not to be impacted and can be removed by your dentist under local and those that cause grief tend to be impacted and should be done under general at hospital
Cheers

Another side effect to watch out for in facial numbness. Nerves run very close to the roots of the lower wisdom teeth and can be easily damaged during the extraction. I had a numb lower face for about 6 months after having mine out.

Hence why I still sport a beard 3 months on

Every time i tried to shave I lost bits of my chin.......also frequently spilt soup etc down my chin........but interestigly never spilled any beer
It all depends on whether the roots are straight or curved around the jawbone-the x-rays will show that. If they are badly curved they will suggest it is done in hospital. If straight like mine were, the dentist can do it on the spot. Mine were removed by an RAF dentist who knew his stuff, it was no pain and I had no significant after effects. Was able to fly the next day!

Get yourself some Codemol - other half was told to take these by her dentist when she had 2 of hers out the other year (one of them was impacting so had that tooth removed as well), basically it's Codeine and Paracetamol in one!
I've had one out and wasn't too bad, done by dentist under local although did take a fair bit of pressure and leverage! Felt fine next day, just the saltwater rinses were boggin'!

Had all four of mine out under general about 14 years ago, plus a tooth that had come through under my tongue (it had been like it for years, no bother but the surgeon said best to whip it out anyway). Looked like a hamster (no change there then!
) Could hardly open my jaw at all for a few days, but it was really fine.
Worst bit was when I was getting changed into the gown ready for theatre, I noticed that written inside the neck, it said 'Mortuary'
Had visions of them wheeling me off to the wrong place, but didn't like to make a fuss, so wore it!

Had one of them taken out today. Took over an hour to get it out because it wasn't budging.
I'm now in alot of pain but to be expected.
Got to go back in next Saturday to have the other one out.

Apparently the Dentist put his big tool in Lou's mouth, after a lot of wiggling etc, he finally pulled it out and Lou was able to spit, she felt good after it was finished apparently, Dentist was also pleased to get it out in one piece!
Actually I shouldn't laugh, I'm having wisdom tooth woes of my own
My dentist says that it's going to have to be a hospital job. Apparently because it's set far back they're going to have to cut a lot of the gum before removal. I can't wait.
I'm in so much pain right now. He had to cut into my gum, it wasn't nice. Least if you go into hospital you will be asleep
I have a split lip and my cheek is all bruised, I look like someone has hit me

From: It's like finding a cocktail sausage, when what you really wanted was a rather large saveloy.
I've recently developed what can only be describe as a hospital/surgery phobia..i had to be taken in the A&E the other week for stomach problems and they wanted to keep me in .. but I panicked big style and in the end they let me go home. I've never had surgery before, and have only had 1 tooth extracted when i was under gas at the dentist surgery, so I keep putting it off
Had my bottom wisdom teeth taken out a month ago at the hospital, they gave me a sedative, not sure if i was supposed to be awake or not, if i was i fell asleep. Woke up half an hour later in the recovery room, still haven't figured out how i got there, feeling very drowsy and wanting to tfeel sick.
Got home and after a couple of hours it really hit home and the pain started, couldn't talk and could certainly not eat at all. Had to write things down for my wife instead of talking. If you have to have a fair amount of work done i.e. drilling out bone to get to the tooth, you will find your face swells up and this is when you see what it is like to have a fat face, this took me a good 4 or 5 days to reduce the swelling.
Now it is done you wouldn't have though it was that bad, but i would not go through that again. I'm left with a gapping hole on one side where quite a bit of bone was taken away to get to the tooth.
