got a bit of an update now.
seems we live in a small world
my next door neighbour just popped round and it seems that his grandaughters boyfriend works with this chap, al.
from what i heard he needs most the top of his skull skin grafting due to the damage caused.
christ, makes me wonder what would have happened if i had been 2 mins later
hopefully via this avenue i may/may not found out a little more information about al and his recovery.

Well done mate, saved his life.
Instincts take over and you just go into auto mode when something like this happens. It's a shame too many people either twist their heads around to look and drive on or are just to involved in their own personal BS to get involved.
When I had my serious accident, instincts took over, I ran out of my car to the other driver who had gone through the wind screen to try and help, 5 car's all stood still and people are just standing there.
I collapsed after talking to the guy.. I had fractured my skull and ruptured my vertebrates + various facial injuries but was running on adrenaline for 5 minutes.
Top man mate, hope the other fella makes a good recovery!

Yep, glad to see this threads still around and going strong....
This kind of selfless act restores my faith in mankind, we go quite far (understatement of 2008) at times on Scoobynet to point out whats wrong in the world, who's acting a tosser, etc....and so on....
So to stumble on this over the weekend lifted my spirits and if anything brought this 'loose gathering of people with **** all to do all day but **** around on the internet'
one step closer to feeling like a real community!
So (as already said)... Well done that man, and respect from the Hunster, if I lived near you you'd be on the receiving end of a beer and whiskey chaser

had a chat with my neighbour last night.
seems al was out of hospital by saturday. from what i heard, his head was bandaged (needs the skin graft on most his scalp), arm/wrist in a pot, and his left knee was in a pot too. oh and on crutches somehow.
where did he get spotted?
down the local bowling alley
couldnt make it up. anywho ive asked him to pass on a message to get well soon and PICK HIS BLOODY BIKE UP
knowing hes kind of up and about has put me in a good mood now, nice to see whatever i did do has helped him.

I've had the most random experience today, after 8 years of me doing this thread. This proves what a crazy world it is sometimes.
I'm outside this morning putting my son in his car seat to go do some jobs. I get a tap on my shoulder and it was this guy! He asked if I was Andy, I said yes and we basically got talking. He'd been searching for me on and off for years and just never seen me (I'm still in the same house) and by pure luck recognised me outside today.
We were chatting for a few minutes and he'd only had a visual memory and a first name to go on. I really couldn't believe it. The guy was so thankful and we aim to keep in touch.
Was called Alan Cooke.
Bloody hell!

Outstanding example of a Good Samaritan.
