Thank you all for your kind words. It is so nice to know she is no longer suffering the way she has over the past couple of days.
Thank you to everyone who has offered advice or support along this journey. And also thank you to those who have shared their stories with me along the way. I feel we have all shared this journey, and that some feel a loss with me tonight.
Cannon fodder, thank you also for sharing your comments today

My final blog entry on mum can be found here.
http://michaelsnasdell.blogspot.com/...r-mum.html?m=0

I'm sure others may follow, but this truly marks the end of a chapter for my family. Thank you all once again.

Sorry to hear this Michael, It's been a long struggle. She must have been exhausted, and she's no longer suffering and in pain. My condolences.

Exhaused is an understatement, she gave it everything. No more pain indeed

Thank you.

Ah shit, really sorry to hear that mate.

As you say, at least your mam's not in pain any more.

Sat with my finger on the "Shift" key to start a sentence, and there is nothing I can think to say.........

I'm the opposite, as my blog shows, I can't stop talking lol.
No need to say anything mate, impossible to find the right words at times like this, but rest assured everyone is coping well, and indeed she is no longer in pain. And boy was she uncomfortable at the end.

Thanks Lisa, and thanks for following this all so closely

Just wanted to add my condolences. The way you've handled everything that's come at you over the last few years is an example to many Snazy. I've no doubt you've made your Mum very proud.

Sincere condolences to you and your family.

Snaz, posted in the earlier pages on this thread about my families experience, and have looked in every now & then to see how things were with everyone. Was told by another S'netter about your mum.

I am sorry for your loss but I am glad she is no longer in pain and is at peace.

Only just seen this Snazy. Please accept my condolences, I can understand how you are feeling just now.

Whether she said it or not, she must have realised what you have done for her, no one could have done more. I hope you can take some sort of consolation in that. You will also know I am sure that those on SN will always be here for you.

Please accept my most sincere condoloncies Snazzy. Very similar to what happend to my lgate grandad 2 year's ago.No longer in pain, but ill always wish i had that extra few hour's to see him.

Hope those who feel there is something wrong or a lump or a general unhappiness about them to go the docters if they feel that's what they want. my mum was diagnosed on january 6th this year with grade 3/4 breast cancer. Was such a shock and most heartbreaking thing in my life to date and sure to be for the rest of my time on earth. However on August 1st after 6 doses of chemotherapy during the spring/summer she had her operation and was very succesful and was out of hospital 2 day's later. So please if anyone is unsure please check.

Chemotherpy is the most heartwrenching thing to see and to happen to a member of your family or friend's.

I feel so sorry for you mate. please accept my best wishes for the future for you, your family, friends and everyone else who is on scoobynet. So many kind word's spoken and shared. It's incredible heartwarming.Jut goes to show what a great forum this is.

Having been through all that I can only underline what you say in your post. It is vital that you get anything that you are uncertain about checked by the doctor. That is after all part of his job and if you are discovered to have cancer, the earlier it is discovered, the better your chances.

Hi again guys, thank you for all your comments on this occasion.
The service was yesterday and very fitting for what mum would have wanted.
I have blogged the day and my feelings about it all so please feel free to have a gander.

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. All of you have had an impact on how things have gone.
So I guess for my part, this journey is over now.

Thanks to all once again.

So sorry to read this final chapter Snazy.
I lost my Mum to 7 years of suffering from cancer in 87 when I was 21 and the pic of your Mum brought memories crashing back.

I'm sure she was very proud of the Son she raised. You are a credit to her. May she rest in peace now.

Honor Oak is a lovely albeit very sombre place. I visit each October and it's a good place to sit and reminisce whilst feeding the squirrels and magpies.

Your mother couldn't have asked for a better son ........ I hope my son grows up to respect and look after his mum like you did in her time of need!

Cheers mate I hope so too. I don't think I did anything special for mum. No more than I would hope other children would do for their parents.

Glad there is no more suffering now though. Proud of my niece at how she has coped, my nephew too, was always gonna be hardest for them.

Sadly my daughters mum didn't find it in herself to get in touch in time, neither before mum passed, nor for the funeral, so Sian is without any greandparents now, without ever really knowingly met any of them.

I hope you can relax now Snazy and that you can eventually put it behind you and start to get a lot more out of life for yourself, and which you richly deserve.

Thanks all.
Sad to have to say it but my sister has not given up on her stupid ways. Now deciding to launch an attack on a family member who dared to bend over backwards to attend to pay her respects.

Some people never change huh.
I also took a grilling from my aunt about things she had been told by my sister, about me just bailing out and leaving her to make all the arrangements.

*sigh

You know what you did for your mum and hopefully in time you can look back and be proud of yourself. You've been through a hell of a lot recently so the last thing you need is to be bothered by a petty aunt or pathetic sister...

Start looking after YOURSELF, hold your head high if they make cheap comments and most importantly remember (as someone on here recently posted)

Never wrestle with pigs.... you'll both end up muddy, but they'll enjoy it

lol I like it Si.

I am looking after numero uno now. Back at work full time, and making plans where I can to get myself back on track. Ironic, but I have to address my weight again, the past 2 months I have not been kind to myself.

You are of course right, I carry my head high, and regret nothing that has happened. As for relationships with others, well there is one less tie now.

Like everyone I am sorry to learn this Snazzers but there are many on here who quietly wish that they had done half of what you did for your mum over quite a time. So be proud of that and you don't need reminding that your mum had reached the time for peace and freedom from pain and discomfort.

All the best and chin up old son. David
