Also you can get cumin seeds, these will fight off the free radicals. They can be bought in health food shops & most likely too your local market stalls.I hope your loved ones, get well soon.

I am very sorry to hear about all those who have got that terrible disease. Having had to go through it as well I know what it is like well enough and I can only wish everyone all the best. I am a strong believer in that one's mental attitude is very important as well as the treatment so maximum support means more that you would believe. I was very lucky in that respect.

Treatment is getting more effective all the time these days which is something to be thankful for as well of course.

Sorry for the kind of hijack thread but I thought it would be a good place to mention this thread:

Update from me, thanks for bumping the thread

Following the second operation mum has made a much better recovery. Now she goes to the shops daily, is able to have baths again, and even took a field trip to a local shopping centre the other day. She is feeling so good in fact that she walked back from the local supermarket with her shopping.

Well done mum

Glad the second op has sorted the problems of the first one out, and great to see her back on her feet. She is like a new woman now, she can hear AND get about. Really starting to find a new lease of life and has stopped the "I give up" campaign she was on before.

Shame its not a cure, but its definatly put her in a much better place, and in line with that, it puts me in a much better place too.

Thank you once again to all at Lewisham Hospital for taking such good care of her.

Nick, really sorry to hear that news mate, has mum decided what she wants to do yet?
My mum was initially given 12 months, but has been about for 2 and a half years now following better than expected chemo results.
I hope you are all coping ok, and that whatever the decision everything is as painless and trouble free as possible for you all.

Nick, I can only keep my fingers crossed for your Mam (you and your family).

As Snazy says, don't give up hope. Good for your Mam that she is staying positive and in good spirit.

Use this thread to let out how you feel, it's good to talk so to speak.

Big hugs to all of you and I keep my fingers crossed the treatment works for her. Look at Snazy's Mam, she is still fighting way after expected. Nobody can really know for sure what will happen all you can do is remain positive and treasure each day as it comes.

To Snazy, I am so pleased things are going so well at your end.

As everyone says Nick-keep the positive thoughts. Chemo these days is so much more effective. I did have some cells in the lymph glands, that was some time ago and they are telling me on my annual checks that I am clear so far. Glad to hear that your mum is feeling good after the first chemo session. as Mrs Leslie told me-keep thinking good thoughts.

Good stuff mate, and well done mum
It can be tough trying to change the subject while trying to remain seemingly interested in the matter. There is a time to discuss, and a whole lot of time to try and forget and get on with life, for everyone.

Your attitude to it sounds good to me so I'm sure you will do right by her.
I assume she is having it IV? My mums was oral and at home, so she sort of went through the mill unmonitored but in the comfort of home.

There is a lot to be said for what mental state can do for you and your mum, staying positive and looking forwards really can prove rewarding.

My mum has just got back from an appointment with the consultant. She is at the stage now where I am allowing her to go on her own so she feels she has some independence left, and she feels positive for it, which is win win. I will of course continue to go to some of them.
This however gives me time to do ME things. So much so, that i have decided to get counselling for myself now, and start to deal with the issues that have come up for me over the past 2 years, and I can re-find myself and be a better person somehow.

Keep positive mate, as Les and Lisa said, anything is possible, nothings written in stone. Tomorrow, it's another day, live for it!

Indeed it is mate, a big boost to me in fact.
Like I say it gives me time to go and get some help of my own now.
Even stayed late at work today for a meeting without fretting that she might need me.

Cheers mate.

Sorry to hear that mate. At least she is in the right place for care, rather than being stubborn at home refusing any help.

Got my fingers crossed for her, and wish her a speedy recovery.
Chin up mate, try not to let it get you down too much. And take my word for it, if the stresses start building up, take McMillan up on their offers of taking and counselling.

Remember if you wanna sound off, PM me or anything anytime.

As Snazy says, she is in the right place and I have everything crossed that she gets through this. It might be a blow, but at least the hospital is keeping her as safe as possible, giving her a chance.

Truely, my love goes out to your Mam, you and your family. Keep talking and letting your feelings out.

I might not be able to help as such, but feel free to PM me, sometimes it's just good to have a sounding board.
