Stephen,

My old dear got diagnosed with cancer last year. She used to smoke a bit and they think she could have 6 months or 6 years depending on how she responds to the treatment and I still can't stop f*cking smoking.

Thumbs up

Don't know how everyone else has done, but every day I've not bought a pack of cigs, I've put 5 quid into a jar.

That jar's now got over a hundred quid in it since 8th Jan

I read Allen Carr's book last Saturday and haven't had a ciggie since. Still craving though.

Stu, the cravings will go, I promise !! Ive been off the ole Bennies since November and I get the odd moment when I could spark up, but it goes away if I think about something else !!

I just wish somebody had shown me that book years ago. And why is it such a secret ? It should be handed out free on the NHS or something !! gotta be better than giving nicotine gum / pills out to people ?!

good luck mate

carpet,

I agree it should be in free print on the NHS. I just passed it on to a mate who wants to quit.

The book gave me a non-smokers mentality, thats the only way I can describe it.

Will I ever feel like a non-smoker or just an ex-smoker though. Life sentence I always said.

Probs still feel like an ex-smoker, but Im a non-smoker ( if that makes any sense ? )

I cant describe how the book made me think but it sort of made me look at smoking differently, I guess he had all the answers to all the pathetic excuses I kept using for smoking which made me realise it cant be that hard to quit ?!

The only time I really find I want a smoke is in the car stuck in traffic or on a long drive, out on the beers etc is no hassle..
weird !

Wink

How about taping your fingers and thumbs on each hand together...?

If you cannot pick one up you definitly cannot light it

how about putting all the orible lung pictures everywhere as a constant reminder?

Must be difficult.. I am non smoker and so don't know what you are going through..

goodluck

The lozengers are the best - They kinda replace the habitual side of smoking as well... The hardest bit I found was breaking the " I'll just have one on the way to work " type syndrome...

So instead of smoking, I know eat the nicorette sweets and in 10 years my teeth will fall out instead of my lungs .. GREAT !!!

Funny you should mention it, but the money I'm "saving" is going on the car. Over the course of a year, it'll add up to over 1800 quid, so it'll pay for the new spoiler and a few trackdays

A chap at work quite rightly pointed out that I'd have needed a three grand pay increase to get that much extra "in pocket" ...
