mine is ok, but I don't have experience of other models to compare it against. It does seem to meet your requirements though.

Matteeboy announced purchase of an LED torch a few months ago, if someone wants to search for threads started by him.

Well i asked for a price range but heard nowt, brightstar hid's are the best for vfm and are usually on ebay.

I have lumi's but their hid's are imo overpriced, good kits though im waiting for led to get a whole lot better, if you can find them on the net ay-up led's are meant to be very good.

I can't see anything thats bright enough to be used in self-defence as having a great battery life really - I've seen lots of torches that dazzle, but nothing that has the same blinding effect as a Surefire does.

Put it this way - they are honestly painful to look at when your in bright sunlight; against someone who's vision has adapted to street lighting or pitch blackness - they won't see anything for a good 5 to 10 minutes once they've had a blast of a Surefire with even the 65 lumen lamp assembly; you can go all the way upto a 200 lumen assembly on one of their "pocket" torches if you want to pay for it.

As for their robustness, I don't know anyone who's managed to break one; and I'm talking about a bunch of ape like Squaddies who can break almost anything including tanks

basically i was playing around with my w960i and realised how bright the 2 leds are (much better than my maglite) so i'm looking one thats bright, compact to fit in my pocket, and preferably strong enough for self defence (just in case)

one word fella. TESCO...

£12, doubles up as a weapon as its aluminium casing ensures blood wipes away hassle free

Forget LED flashlights, what you need is a HID torch like this one:

6000K 35W 3000Lum HID Flashlight Hand Torch Searchlight - eBay (item 130193068721 end time Jan-31-08 19:00:00 PST)
