Whilst looking at the Eurotunnel site, I came across the following
Roadworks on the M20
The Highways Agency are currently undertaking a programme of roadworks on the M20 between junction 11 and 12 in both directions. The aim of the programme is to install a Quick Movable Barrier which will improve the traffic flow on the M20 when Operation Stack is in place.
Work will take place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until approximately mid-August 2008. At least two lanes will remain open between 6am to 8pm each day. The hard shoulder may be in use as a third lane where necessary to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
A 50 mph speed limit will be in place throughout the work.
Cheers
Simon

Meeting @ Thurrock services @ 5.15am Leaving @ 5.30am
The date:- Sat 19th July
The Destination:- Le Touquet, France
The Route:- Via Eurotunnel
LE TOUQUET is approx 45mins from Calais @ a steady 60-70mph, along the A16 (E402) in the direction of Boulogne when leaving calais. You will encounter a peage (toll road) on this route, which will cost 2.5 Euros each way.
Le Touquet is a pleasant, clean resort, with boutiques, bars, etc in the town which is just across the road from the seafront. The beach has golden sands which are deep & clean, with plenty of room to play a footie match etc. there is also a modern swimming pool on the beach, with 'flumes' etc, & inside & outside pools.
There are plenty of car parking facilities all along the seafront.
We will be crossing the channel by Eurotunnel, leaving on the 07:20 train & returning on the 21:20(local time)(20:20 English time)
The crossing takes 35mins,and upon disembarkment, its easy with no hold-ups etc as all immigration, passports is done prior to getting on the train.
The toal cost is £59 , per vehicle.
Book your train here
, Click on the 07:20am Outward & The 21:20 return
We did this trip in 2006 , & 1 tank of fuel should easily cover the travel from Lakeside & return.....
Naturally this is a PINK SHIRT event ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
There is also a short tunnel on the A16 ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

This information should be read in conjunction with our General advice for motoring in Europe.
Drinking and driving: If the level of alcohol in the bloodstream is 0.05 per cent or more (0.02% for bus/coach drivers), severe penalties include fine, imprisonment and / or confiscation of driving licence. Saliva drug tests will be used to detect drivers under the influence of drugs – severe penalties as above.

Petrol in a can is permitted but forbidden by ferry and Eurotunnel operators. Credit cards accepted at most filling stations; check with your card issuer for usage in France & Monaco before travel. There are now many automatic petrol pumps operated by credit / debit card however, cards issued abroad are not always accepted by these pumps.

They must travel in an approved child seat or restraint adapted to their size. A baby up to 13kg must be carried in a rear facing baby seat. A child between 9 and 18kg must be seated in a child seat and a child from 15kg up to 10 years can use a booster seat with a seat belt or a harness. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure all passengers under 18 are appropriately restrained.
Seat belts: Compulsory for front/rear seat occupants to wear seat belts, if fitted.
