I can definately say that there is no cat in the up pipe, as I have the the original exhaust in my shed.
It was the first UK STi7 to be fitted with a full Scoobysport exhaust inc up pipe.
It was fitted by Powerstation before I took delivery.
Just a word of warning though, after removing the original exhaust and without any other mods the car now peaks at 1.65bar and holds 1.3bar and it pulls like a f***ing train.Covered 1800 miles in 2 weeks and well pleased.

Is that level of boost safe enough in the new STI?

This may well be the way forward instead of waiting for prodrive to get the finger out.

Question

Are you sure that boost level is correct?

The STI boost should be around 1.2bar, i don't think a SS full de-cat would make the boost jump to 1.65bar

Theres not many hardcore tuners(Moe, Trout, etc) running that much boost. Craig did a 3.7sec to 60mph on 1.5bar,

The boost is read from a Defi gauge which is pretty accurate.
The boost cut out comes in at about 1.6bar.
The car is at Powerstation on Wednesday so will be able to get some very accurate figues on the boost, but as I am having a Unichip fitted the overboost cut out will no longer be a problem.
As for the level of overboost the car is very different from its predecessors and as it was the first to be fitted with a catless system maybee there is an issue with this.
Having spoken to Pete at Scoobysport he has not had this problem on Jap import STi's, so maybee it is unique to the UK models.
Although I do agree that I would have thought that the change in exhaust should not give that increase in boost but I'm no techi.
Oh and by they way there is not detting as far as I can detect.

No cat in the up-pipe, one in the down-pipe one in the centre.

Unhappy

I picked up my Prodrive Sti on 31st Jan and so far have done over 1500 miles with it. Would love to talk offline with Grant and any other Sti VII owners out there.

Thanks in advance; jcoghill@lineone.net

Get the dealer to replace the pipe before you take it away. In fact, think of all the mods you will need, then put them on the fiance if the dealer is prepared to work that way - I know Litchfield inports work like that - save yourself some readies, and prevent yourself getting into trouble with the other half.

The STI7 does NOT have a cat in the up pipe. Only the MY01/02 WRX has one.

(This comes from an official source, not me guessing)

I have a STI 7 and live in Switzerland. For different reasons, I have asked for the official swiss homologation paper.
Be sure all the specifications are right this time...

About the catalyst, I read : one FCFE4 and one RCFE4
This correspond to the downpipe and the middle pipe ones.
