well my old pre97 import certainly didn't run on a 0-5v scale, it was 0-1v and was located in the RH header. I replaced mine with a 3 wired universal item (can't remember where from unfortunately... it was maybe 5 years ago!) and it worked a treat. My connector was as per the pics shown, i.e a 2x2 block rather than a single line as suggested it should be.

Tony.

Cheers.

I've just been and swapped it on my lunch, for the Bosch LS02 universal type.

I'm stumped though, because the 3 wires - 2 are white and 1 is black!

Which do I solder to which?

Is it as simple as removing the old sensor, looking at how the 3 wires exit the original sensor and matching them up to the new sensor?

I bit the bullet and rang a local parts company, Andrew Page. Gave the kind gentleman my reg and he said “The sensor we have listed for that car is £79.60 including VAT, do you want me to order it in? It’ll be here Friday.” So I picked it up Saturday.

Opened the box, had a look at the sensor and it’s blatant the wires aren’t long enough. I rang back the idiot that’d sold me this ‘Direct Replacement’ lambda and he said “Oh…”. I asked if I cut the wires and extended them, would it invalidate the warranty. Ofcourse it will I’m afraid, was the reply.

So now…. I’m trying to get them to find out the correct part. They do stock a Bosh universal one, that I’ve been told from members on here will fit no problems, and guess what, it’s cheaper than the supposed ‘Direct Fit’!

Can anyone on here who’s replaced the Lambda sensor that’s in the headers (not the down pipe), please tell me which sensor you used and how much it cost?
As per my previous post,it's a Bosch LS02 universal sensor that you want. I paid about £40 ish from the link in my previous post but someone I know got one from Brown Brothers for £25-£30 including vat.

Takes 10 minutes to cut the plug off the original sensor and join it to the wires on the Bosch sensor.

You should have bought the universal sensor in the first place saving yourself time and money

I wanted to get the sensor from somewhere I can walk into with it in my hand if it ever goes faulty.

It actually turned out to be £43 i think

can anyone tell me the best way to remove the lambda from the headers?

Do i HAVE to remove the heat shield? Or can i slide a ring neck spanner down the wires and over the sensor?

I'm not sure about the standard headers as I have GT Spec ones on mine.

If you can slide a ring spanner down the wires and over the sensor then that should undo it
