Seems like everyone has been happy with Andy's work, and I'm certainly no exception. He's a real nice down to earth guy who is very knowledgable and is happy to explain the whole process from start to finish. He certainly went out of his way to help me with a few little problems I had an have to say I am a happy camper, and would more than happily recommend his services to everyone. Power wise I wasnt sure what to expect but the car is revving and pulling really well, and as for the sound with the Gt Spec headers.... simply amazing. I really love it !!!! Have had subaru's for years now and always loved the scooby burble, but it didnt take me long to forget about it after fitting these...... best mod I have ever done to any of my cars..... In the end up my car turned out to be one of the lowest figures of the day but I'm more than happy with it. Anyone considering using Andy on his next visit please dont hesitate. Its money well spent.
Thanks again to Andy !!!!
And thanks much also go to Paul for organising this !!!!
Oh and Ecutek has to be the way to go guys unless your going to be running silly power and want add on's like antilag etc etc etc !!!!
Cheers guys !

I guess they are around 275-280 bhp standard with approx 270 lb/ft of torque and altough andy's sending me the graphs I think it made 350 bhp with approximately the same figure for torque. Not bad for a car with very little mods !!!!!

Ah, our other Scottish reassurer is back!
My initial nervousness didn't really last that long - an email way in advance from Andy sorted everything out.
His guestimate in advance for me was 320-330.
So getting 335 was a bonus.
Only unnerving was when he tried to start my car after connecting up everything and it started then just died.
Did this about 4 or 5 times before it would tick over.
Another guy (Scoobboy) was there and said his done exactly the same thing.
Apart from that great.
Andy did make a point of my car being an MY05 STI.
Said that these were the best of the whole lot because Subaru had ironed out all the problems on these models.

Overall was a great day, Paul was really nice giving me a free coffee and bringing out the buns.
Think he felt bad about buying my last scooby off me and selling the uprated bits off it lol.
Was a hard few hours driving though, trying to find clear spots in the fog to do 3000-4000rpm, 3000-5000rpm, 3000-6000rpm and 2000-7000rpm runs in third and fourth gear lol, pis*ed a whole lot of people off slowing down to 2000rpm-3000rpm and accellerating like a madman, prob though i was trying to made a **** outta them.
I was well impressed at the 410bhp figure as was thinking more 380-390bhp due to using STI pinks, but the APS SR40 Ballbearing Turbocharger and SX FPR worked a treat.
Running 1.7 bar roughly now wheras 1.5 bar before and around an extra 50bhp since map.
Really noticed the low down difference as my turbo is more laggy than most and comes in great now and pulls to redline.
Andy said at 7000rpm the graph was still pulling exponentially whereas most turbos would be tailing off.
Should have maybe installed a set of 650cc injectors and coulda seen 440bhp.
Think this would have been the max the standard internals could take though.
Maybe 2.5lt or 2.33lt next time though.
Happy days

335 is really amazing chap. The dual map is fab i find. Stops you getting too used to the power i think so pushing the screenheater is a moment of joy.
What we need is a new button with "Go Baby Go" on it a la gone in 60 Seconds!

Im really pleased that everyones results are so impressive. I had my 2.5 classic "Apexi'd" and it pulls like a train. Sold it today to a mighty impressed biker who puts it in league with his 600 to 100mph!

I've been waiting to hear your results Urban, as my machine is identical, 315bhp for Brocks and me is right, although you rape me for torque as expected. You've hit the nail on the head with exactly what i'm after, more drivability. If Andy is coming back, i'd love to be on the list, keep me in mind Scubbay. Seems like he really does live up to his reputation.
What's the score with dual map, what does it drop it too? Standard boost or what?

Thanks for the feedback guys and also for presenting the cars so well prepared, its refreshing that there were no car related issues with bits breaking, falling off etc
Big thanks also to Paul for arranging this mapping session and providing hospitality for all involved.
cheers

The polish - haven't forgotten, but Andy took all my money
The boost - just got details emailed from Andy.
As mentioned before - full boost available from 2,700rpm
So its running at 1.4bar tapering down to 1.25 at 7,000rpm
Mighty fun!
Get you're name on the list.

Stupid Question (apologies).
The ECUTEK is that a new separate ECU that needs to be bought, as in old factory ECU out, new ECUTEK in? Or when everyone refers to ECUTEK do they just refer to the software, as in the ECUTEK map overwrites the info/data on the factory ECU.
Putting it another way - coming from a standard car, what would you need? The prices quoted for this session were "Ecutec new map inc licence £500". So performance parts aside (bigger fuel pump, decat etc), did the £500 cover all you need from a ECU point of view?
Thanks and excuse my ignorance.

You a correct in what your saying when you stated that you still use your standard ecu but it is flashed or overwritten with the new info / parameters bla bla bla !!!!
And yes £500 did cover the programming side of things.... well plus the dreaded VAT, and plus a share of Andy's travel !!!! So approximately £630.
Hope this helps mate !!!!

Yeah, the £500 (Plus VAT & a share of travel costs) covered the license fee plus remapping costs.
Check Ecutek's website, but I think MY99 onwards can be remapped?

Thanks that explains it.
And if you wanted to restore the your old factory map, you would need the likes of Andy back again to reprogramme? Or it is possible to dual map the ECU with the standard map and the advanced map? How is it switchable? (Someone mentioned a dual map earlier in the thread.)
