That's EXACTLY what used to happen next door! Lights on and off, doors opened when left closed, and vice versa. Amongst other stuff.........

Ok, so when you shut the door before bed it was just caught on the latch. During the night.. donk, latch finally springs off and door comes open. The shock etc races your mind and you have thoughts of the door being opened forcefully (by the sound as the latch springs)
