I was stopped on the M40 last June doing 104. Did not hear anything for months. I beleive they did not have to issuse a NIP as I was placed under corsion at the time.

Any way thought I had gotten away with it until I recieved a summons in November. Ended up with 420 fine and 7 day ban.

Unhappy

Went past a police van with a camera pointing out the back of it this lunchtime

It was in a 30, I quickly looked at the speedo and it was showing 40!! assuming a margin of error that may mean the car was doing 37!! My wife got done for 37 last year, same place, same bl00dy hill!! NOTE:- I did not say I was driving!!

This particular place is a steep hill, pedal bikes do 30mph down this hill with NO pedalling and the PIGS sit there!! EVERYONE does over 30mph - if you brake as you go down the hill you may stick to 30 ..... not otherwise!

Do the police not realise the damage this does to the public perception of them??? The wife, once a strong supporter of the police, lost ALL respect for them when she got her 37mph ticket!! The police want the support of the public and then they act like complete **** when operating speed traps, hiding and such like ... where are they when your granny gets beaten up and her house ransacked??? yes, they are nicking the honest joe public for doing 37mph!!! Hope you are glad that your rates are getting well spent!!

Rant over

Anyone any news of that court case of the NIP issue and the legality of the 'incriminating yourself' state of affairs?

Pete

If you're worried about losing your license I'd suggest you definitely get a Solicitor. If you have Legal Cover with your Insurance see if it covers you for Solicitors Costs - mine did which saved me about £400.

I was prosecuted for 98 in a 60 (i.e. 38 MPH over limit) and got £555 fine , 6 points but no ban

A letter from your employers stating how you need your car for your job should help.

Cheers,

Ian.
