I'm suprised at the amount of people who are putting themselves and their families at risk by taking their keys to bed with them.
I never take mine to bed with me anymore, as the last thing i want to wake upto is a thug with a large hammer requesting the keys to my car - it happens!!! It's a lump of tin at the end of the day!!!

Im kind of on the fence here one side of me agrees with the fact that its just a car but "that" side of me thiks that i have worked hard for all that i have got and that i should defend what is mine, so i realy dont know how id handle the situation hopfully never be in that possition

Sorry Bren, but you made me smile with your "no wheel" story, now they'll bring one in-case..... Sorry !
Long ago I had an Imp, just took the wheel off every time I parked, call me Stig with my wheel in my hand....

Yes, I agree. It's far better to leave the keys open on view to make life much easier for criminals. Indeed I leave my Impreza overnight with the doors open and the keys in the ignition to stop would be burglars soley after my keys.
As i said - a while ago, i used to take my keys to bed with me, but as time has gone on, you hear of more and more people losing their cars in violent circumstances - i for one, don't want to be another one of these statistics

i live in a good area (by steven g), but when i take my car out its not a good area (liverpool). the car im about to buy has a cat 1 alarm and imoblisor. but strangly it has another imobilser one where you press this fob in to metal before you start the car. im looking for a tracker but seen as the cars worth £2k and my excess is £700 i think theres no point in buying a £500 tracker.
but i hear all steeling locks are easy to get pasted????

funny my m8s jag kept on being broken into so he changed his ignition to the ciggy lighter so you press started the ciggy lighter to start the car.

But if they are 10 years old they will not need an SVA. Had mine broken into on the drive, I'd been installing a stereo and left it for literally 30 minutes unlocked while I got some food (forgot to lock it) opened the front door and some little chav was sat in the drivers seat with the ignition barel out and a screwdriver in it. Luckily it was cat 1 so was immobilised but if it had not been it would have been gone. Had a look at whats needed to start it and its rediculously easy to get away with one without an immobiliser.
