New or old the Subaru Impreza's image,or 'Scooby'as the Orangotang Minus owners prefer to call them has long been dead.

My 07 just sits in the garage. With under 3000 miles on it since March.I'm just too embarrassed to be seen driving it

..Have you seen the 'show us your numbers thread' in Members gallery fer gawds sake?

...And if it was a looney who took exception to your behaviour and trashed your rear bumper, what then? Some people don't give a sh*t about their cars and will cheerfully run you off the road. Then try to tie you in insurance knots for the next 2 years or so.

In such a situation, ringing the Police tends to get a negative reaction.... You admit or imply your own wrong-doing whilst the other driver just shakes his head and implies there's something wrong with you!

Sorry, that's not exactly true.

There are Impreza owners who are a laughing stock and there are some Imprezas that are laughable. Even some on here.

But I think the large majority are serious car enthusiasts. Most need to be given the running costs involved.

I Never see other Impreza owners driving like idiots.

Of course we will get sterotyped but so what.

I enjoy laughing at those who laugh at me. i'm not ashamed, i'm having fun

You get half wits driving all sorts of vehicles.

I drive a pug 106 diesel most of the time and get bullied by all sorts of other cars. I get laughed at in that all the time given the condition of it.

I love hammering into a roundabout at 13mph and getting the car to do an endo, then tearing off to 40mph in 1 minute 56 seconds. Well not really but you get my point. Its a car you can't exactly bo11oc

When I do get the Impreza out of the garage its great. Obviously

Guess who's bored in work today?

Ha, what a tw@!

I had a fun experience the other day on the M11. Driving along at 75 and pull out to overtake an insanely chavved up Ford Focus (proper barryboys material). I cruise past and when I go to pull in ahead of him I realise he's actually sped up to stop me from pulling in! He then proceeds to (slowly) speed up to undertake me and pull infront of me just before hitting the car infront of him.

The funniest thing was I was in my 1.3 Corrola, and he *only* just out powered me in 5th.

Absolutely hilarious.

There are **** who drive all sorts of cars, round my way you get daddies boys out on a fri night in anything from m3's to 740's to s8's and everything inbetween! they obviously drive **** cars through the week, then let loose in daddies car at weekend cos these cars can be seen doing burnouts on maccy d's from half a mile away!!!! and if they get "dibbled" they always have insurance cos daddy can afford it!

moreso with chavved up cheap **** imports
I am a classic owner, and fast aproaching 30. I don't count myself as a chav simply because I drive a classic scooby, nor do I consider my car to be cheap and s*it just because it is an import.
The reason I bought into the classic is because it was the shape I fell in love with many moons ago and a dream car for me....I am a through and through enthusiast!!

I never see other scooby drivers causing havoc, not that I don't appreciate that there are these types about as can be clearly seen by some of the posts on here, but in general, all the people I come across are in their late 20's early 30's, friendly and family orientated.

no wonder the owner of Scoobyned sold it!!!

Someone needs to make a stand as far as I'm concerned, these cars have become a complete laughing stock....
I don't think it is fair to tar us all with the same brush. I am sure that a lot of people bought into their cars with the same vision as mine....finally being able to own the car they always wanted. I don't think that the marque has become a laughing stock at all, in fact I think it actually commands a great deal of respect. Sure it attracts some strange and often young crowds but then lets face it, when I was younger, with my cheap motor (which incidentally was my pride and joy back then), I too was drooling over these cars!!!

No offense taken

I have seen my fair share of these too - and usually in one of two main categories - old high mileage classics, now within the reach of many chav types, and also newage WRXs on company car schemes.

you know what, i actually agree with the latter part of this statement.

thing is as been mentioned before, theres too many youngsters (me not included) that buy the cheap imports to impress "da birds innit" for couple grand, insure them incorrectly, then goad every tom dick and harry into a race.

i recently had it on the motorway. some l-plate red wrx was trundling along in the slow lane. i overtook peacefully, no intentions etc, and as soon as i did this he had to drop it a cog and blast past in front. he couldnt have ben more than 18 and his bird looked underage i dont wanna think... eurgh.

but the soaps are doing us no favours.

eastenders had the neon-light crew on it, as well as the date rape thing with a.p.i.'s impreza.

then cora has this bugeye in it currently.

usually i think you talk from your snobbish **** elmer, but im inclined to agree partly this time unfortunatley.
