About Time I Got an External Hard Drive
As others have said, any storage medium can potentially fail. How you store the backup can influence this. I've been helping a friend convert some of his vinyl music collection to CD and he's found that storing the CDs in sunlight ensures that they fail pretty quickly.
I remember them as 360KB - however you could make them DOS bootable, put a copy of Lotus 1-2-3 on it, and still have space for some spreadsheets.

Thanks. This post from someone who remembers trying to use 5 1/4 inch floppies to back-up
240 kb??? What were they? When a floppy was a floppy!! dl

Thanks to everyone who posted ..... I've just got one
It's an IOMEGA 320GB Dektop Hard Drive - Staples £50.
Doesn't 'look' like it comes with any SoftWare .... but I may be wrong, haven't connected it up yet.
