ESC/SIDC - Halfway house pub meet - Thursday 8th November
Well, what can I say? I have a thing about going into pubs on my own - infact, I make it a rule not too LOL. So it took quite a lot for me to go in there tonight to give my bonus ball lottery money, especially as I've never met half of you - and i can't say that i was made to feel particularly welcome.
I appreciate that each of you had your own conversations going etc - and thats the point but I hope that when "newbies" come to say hi - your slightly more welcoming into your conversations!
I made a hasty retreat feeling rather stu-pid! And certainly wont feed myself to lions again!

As one of the 'lions' I'm sorry you felt ignored. Thats never my nor anyone elses intention at the H/H. However, you did seem to be there for a no more than a couple of minutes then you disappeared. Personally I thought you'd gone off to get a drink, but you never returned. There was nothing stopping you pulling up a chair and sitting down with us. Likewise there were a number of people stood around chatting.
We were all newbies once (even Tiny
). We all know it's quite overwhelming when you walk into a crowded room/pub and don't know anybody. But with the best will in the world a little bit of effort goes a long way.
Please come back next month, you'll find the lions don't bite!

With the best will in the world - I made the effort and went along - even wearing my pink shirt LOL so that you'd know who I was and that I was "one of the crowd". Now, I'm not exactly a wall flower and would consider myself to be a pretty friendly outgoing person as opposed to shy and reserved. I wasn't expecting to go in there and have red carpet laid out or nothing like that - but I use this forum very regularly and know most of you by screen name and in the past you've all proved yourself to be very helpful when posting on here. Hence my huge dissapointment last night
I did get a drink as soon as I got there with the full intention of staying, however I can't bear to drink alone and after giving Nate my money for the lottery, I felt like a bit of a spare part as people around were already in conversation and whilst I'm not shy I don't like to intrude either!
My reason for posting this was purely because as a team you seem to pride yourselves on group activities - yet as I walked in there last night - I think only one guy nodded an acknowledgement as I walked in the door (
) and after seeing Nate, I downed my drink and left!
As for next month - I'm ready to resign!

.Seriously, I actually asked Adidas, after you had been gone a couple of minutes where you had gone, and he did say to me that he thought you had gone to get a drink.
Whenever I attend a meet, I usually come and say my 'hello's', then go and get a drink, I just thought you had done the same .......... All I can do is apologise ........ Oh and next time, just to make sure, you will not get rid of me

Ms gooner, am really sorry i was too excited about getting my new car and didnt see you were there.
You should have come and give me a whack round the head and i would have introduced you.

As was everyone - and I don't want you all to think I'm some kind of drama queen or throwing my toys out the pram - just to make you aware - that especially as it was VERY male orientated - I did feel like a prat!
I'm going to order a neon light - so the next meet, I will put it on my head - so you will ALL know that I'm there to come and say Hello!
Drama Queen NO
I would rather you say what you felt
We get lots of people that don't even get out of the car we can't help them
Sometimes you just get too involved and don't even see people come and go
So chalk this one up to experiance and I look forward to seeing you at the next meet
