Take note and start treating your Customers like the best do - when a Customer says that a fault is unacceptable .... it is unacceptable!!

Just they didn't want it tested in Court as they would lose!

So, little people .... you CAN win against the big boys, just do not let them bully you into accepting the unacceptable!!

Really pleased to hear it Pete. You are to be congratulated for your persistence and it gives hope to the rest of us when these people try it on to fleece us in the future.

P1mark,

I am amazed that you continued to read this so called boring thread! I personally think it was far too important an outcome to be described like that.

This thread was important to everyone as an example of what can be achieved if you just stick by your guns and offer no compromise if you feel seriously let down.

What stands out above all is the Policy of certain outfits to imply that you have no rights beyond what they deem to give you ....... the Consumer is hugely powerful and it's about time the British Public realised that and refused to accept shoddy goods and shoddy Customer Services!

The amount isn't important - what I got was 100% of the cost of the TV and 100% of the Court costs ..... that's what's important

Get yourself a Panasonic PZ series plasma, they are very impressive. I have the 42PZ70, if you can get your next tv from John Lewis as well as they will give you a 5 year warranty and the customer service is 2nd to none. Currys are no better than a dodgy market trader for after sales care.

NO!!

You are all forbidden to shop at Currys, PCWorld, Dixons or Pixmania

Just because I have won doesn't mean that they will treat anyone else any better ..... buy at John Lewis!

The cheque will be banked Monday .... the letter will be framed

They want me to:-

1. Send them a signed Invoice back.

and

2. To inform the Court.

Well, all I wanted was my TV repaired and they failed to do that - and they told me to 'go swing' when they didn't want to talk to me anymore .... 'take us to court if you wish' was their cry ......

Should I send a receipt back?

Should I let the Court know they have paid?

OR, should I give them some of their own medicine and ignore their cries??

What do you reckon?

I think if I was in your position, I'd let the court know that they paid up, but "forget" to send them a receipt.

By delaying as you say you are bringing yourself down to their level. I think you would do better by returning the required paperwork etc with one of your examples of "biting wit" as you so occasionally entertain us with so that they are in no doubt of your "admiration" for their customer service!

You could also ask for an acknowledgement of the invoice that you have returned. Just to annoy them that little bit more.

Thats a good idea ...... 22,200+ have viewed it - it must have cost them far more than the cheque they have paid me!

The true cost of terrible Customer Service will be paid when they go out of business - there is a 'tipping point' at which the majority of people will not shop in the DSG Group of companies - at that point they will rapidly go out of business - and no amount of cost cutting will bring the Customers back.

Fair Do's

You (the Consumer) are far more powerful than you would ever imagine ... retailers **** themselves if they have a Customer who understands their rights and are willing to fight for them all the way - they genuinely get the fear put up them!

It's about time we all stood up and demanded that we get good Customer Service ...............................

John Lewis have found the formula which others should be brought into line with ..... and they will, as long as we demand that they do!

Last edited by pslewis; 09 March 2008 at 10:05 PM. Reason: demand spelt wrong

personally pete I think we as a people should just stop at retailers there are so many things that mean we are ripped off, taken for a ride or just generally abused by people who think they have the power to doso as we the consumer, voter or user do not know that we CAN do something about it, i do think it would be a lesson for all those politians to learn too

enough of my soap box antics

Unfortunately PC World has not competition. They used to, Byte something or other. They were really good, but unfortunately did not understand how to market to the masses. In the end they were bought out.

I do try to avoid PC World almost at any cost, as they are such a pain in the **** to deal with if anything goes wrong.

Business account, non credit. You'll be surprised at how little they'll check to open said account and how much better the prices/service is.
