Or will they wrap the cheque round a lump of camel turd and throw it through my bedroom window at 2am?
Im guessing the second one lol

Well thats good news.
I wonder if any one on here has been put off shopping at Currys? I certainly have.
Dont ever buy an LG TV, they have a very poor reputation within the industry (apparently), now Samsung have a very good reputation, or so I'm told.

Good to see the little guy win for a change, whether Pete actually gets his money we'll have to wait and see.

from what ive gathered, LG make the panels themselves for a lot of companies, like samsung etc. either that or a third company makes panels and their universally used throughout different brands - thats my understanding. so possibly not the panel but other components have gained the reputation for it.

if that kinda makes sence

The panels will be graded by LG.

I know this may sound daft, but they probably give the best panels to other Companies (Samsung for example) .... and keep the bad ones for their own products.

Why would they do that? Simple really, other brands have a higher 'perceived' value due to the badge on them ...... LG can only sell at the cheap end of the market as they are 'considered' as one of the less desirable brands.

In an LG TV an LG Panel is worth £x ..... in a more 'upmarket' brand the panel is worth £x + £y ..... where y is the value the customer places upon the brand badge.

My brother has an Aston Martin DB7 Convertible - the interior door handles are EXACTLY the same items as on my MX5 MK1 ........... BUT, and this illustrates the point nicely ....... they are worth so much more attached to the Aston than my Mazda! AND, Aston will get the 'better' grades off the production line.

If that makes sense

Congratulations Pete, hope you can stuff them for costs not forgetting all the inconvenience you have endured.

B-B and I are ready to help you drink the champagne of course

I was led to believe that Samsung made their own screens and were a supplier to others..... ah well!

could be something like that. all i do know is some/a company makes the panels and many other companies use them, in a similar vein to what pete said about branding.

wasnt trying to correct you or anything

This may surprise you - but yes I would buy a LG again ...... if the others (panasonic, pioneer, sony) still haven't caught up in picture quality - as I buy a TV to enhance my visual experience, not to show off a badge.

Any TV can develop a problem - the problems I have had here are not with the TV per se ....... but with the terrible Customer Service which Currys and DSG Retail seem to think is perfectly acceptable!

I have been awarded the full cost of the TV and my Court Costs in addition.

The Court is not there to make a profit - but, rather, to return you to the financial position you were in before dealing with some nasty retailer!

The Court Order simply tells Currys to pay the money. The TV - to my mind - is a seperate issue entirely.

I certainly won't be taking time off for them to pick it up, if they cannot make Sunday at 1-2pm then I will leave it outside the property for them to collect at their convenience ...........

I was thinking, see - the Pikeys drive around here regular looking for open garages with Quad Bikes in ............ they may just 'have it away' with the Plasma

But, I put it outside in all good faith waiting for Currys to pick it up ........

I would agree that the payment that the Court has ordered is not in exchange for the TV.

As I see it I have simply been awarded the money to repair the TV - that repair will probably cost the amount of the award (if not more).

I have the same LG tv that pete has that went faulty. Mine is over 12 months old, and not a stuck pixel, or a problem at all for that matter.

They are, without doubt, cracking TV's ..... the Picture Quality on a standard input is the best, bar none.

The eyes can't lie.

Just awaiting the cheque now

If anything is shown by this it is this:- Never Ever Settle for Bad Treatment, Take Them ALL The Way!

The Consumer is far, far more powerful than they imagine - the laws are there for the Consumers benefit and the Retailers know it ......... not that they want YOU to know it, however!

Fight them on the beaches .....

March tomorrow ... 24 days from the anniversary of when I bought the TV - 182 days after I reported the fault initially (thats nearly 6 months!)

When I get the cheque should I be cheeky and call them out to the fault again just before the 12 month warranty expires?

They are so useless they will probably replace it with a new one, quoting the 'Lewis Case' (Thats new TV, not new fault!!!!!)
