Well....over the weekend I managed to finally find some boxes to house the ballast The .6mm Steel arrived to make the bezels (ebay) - as for my BM contact for the Shouds (I'll be speaking to him tomorrow)

I also been looking at the beam that runs behind the bumper, man is it rusty , dont like it one bit...... You rust proofed yours right?). Anyone know how much one of those beam things are from Subaru? (also what's the actual technical name for it?).

Look forward to seeing the finished product

All those interested in the Angel Eyes - my contact can supply just the actual ring, you would have to fit them yourselfs into your headlights!

I've advised the supplier that if they are of good quality he could have many more orders....... keep you all posted.

Ok guys... I know its been a while since I last updated my project, but I've been working 24/7

Anyway, guess what I came home to today.....

Perfect size for my projectors dont you think?

The only down side, is that I wont be able to fire them up for another 2-3 weeks.. (work takes priority)

Keep ya posted soon.......

Managed to power the sample (7000K) Angle Eye up last night. Looked good but a bit too blue for me.

Spoke to the supplier this morning and placed my order for some White ones

With regards to the wiring most people simply splice into their side lights - I want more control over them and gonna link them up using a Relay and switch.

Update...

This weekend I managed to get some core things done….

As my BMW contact was only able to get me a e46 headlight I opted to think of something else to use…….

Popped into my local Wilkinson’s and found this.

Not bad for £1.99 so I got two.

As expected I managed to ease off the top ring.

Nice…

Guess what…….once again perfect fit
From this

To

Looks a lot better, don’t you think?

Using the template I made earlier, I got busy with some snips and cut the aluminium into shape.

The aluminium has still got the protective film attached just gotta get some etching primer and spay them matt black. I’ve also been advised that I should use an adhesion promoter when painting the actual headlight surrounds, something about it will help the primer stick properly. Is it really necessary?

Also got some JB Weld to glue the aluminum and angel eyes in place.

Oh yeah, here’s a first - cant wait to get into work tomorrow, DHL tracking state the Angel Eyes (in a white) should be delivered tomorrow

I think I need to earn some major brownie points from the Mrs before I can even think about another project.

I'll post a how to guide once its all done.

Cheers guys....

Should be picking up U-Pol Acid #8 Etch Primer and some U-Pol Grip # 4 Adhesion Promoter tomorrow after work. Fingers crossed everything should be painted during the weekend.

I've also received a new bumper support bar from Subaru, but I recon its gonna last longer if its primed and paint, something else to do before I remove the bumper and fit the Ballasts.

Update…

Had a busy Xmas but still managed to get quite a bit done.

After a bit of searching I managed to get hold of all the items needed to start spraying.

Started off with the Aluminium Bezels (lightly sanded down then on with the Acid #8 followed by the V.High Temp Paint)

As it came out so good I opted to give the old battery tie down a bit of a rub down and done the same two stage process

I then moved onto using the Plastic Primer (which I must say was top stuff!) on the actual internals with the same Halfords paint to follow – not as if anyone will ever see inside them, but wanted to be thorough. (all sanded using 1500grit)

Then the Surrounds

Moving back to my car – you can see the rusty bumper beam. This had to go and ordered a new one (only £29+vat).

Decided to paint this, with some Hammerite paint I had lying around (as I never had any metal primer to hand).

Finally ran the wires for the new switch to control the Angel Eye’s.
