Well apparently the pug shouldn't have even been on as the evo's were in a different class so someone at coombe messed up.
The pug lass is ok the car needs the following.
Its repairable.
This is a list of the bits that we think need repairing/replacing:
Needs dents taken out of the rear wing and bumper, both doors, both wings and bonnet.
Needs two new door mirrors.
New alloys and tyres?
New bodykit
One maybe Two headlights
One rear light
New rear beam
New front wish bones
New driveshaft/gearbox? (gearbox oil everywhere but haven't properly checked yet)
Think thats it so far but we shall know more on further inspection, maybe tomorrow.

Can't apportion any blame to the Pug 106, wasn't doing anything wrong, the same thing would have happened if it were another evo on an in-lap or not gunning it keeping wide.
Looks like he (and the other evos) semi-cut the corner on the grass and then understeered into the 106. In hindsight (easy I know!) he should have seen a slow car wide and eased off BEFORE the corner (or not cut it) and passed it on the straight. AFAIK it's NOT a race, it was a track-day.
I'll make no general judgement on the evo driver, he may be a great driver most the time, however on this occassion, he c0cked up and I'm sure he'll agree. Happens to the best and worst of drivers.

WRONG.
This is a race.
The pug was in the correct race as we run 4 different classes in the same race.
simon had already hit another evo 1 lap earlier, then hit the pug.look about 5 openings down the fence and we are looking through.the new fence saved lives today.

Totally agree with Dracoro 100%, guy in the evo has just made a misjudgement in the heat of the moment and it's been an expensive one, The pug was keeping well out of the way of the faster cars and the evo cut the corner onto the grass thus oversteering into the pug.Evo man needs some lessons on racetrack etiquette.
Just glad everyone is ok, as we are very well aware, machines can be repaired or replaced ,people cant.

Others agree it was avoidable - guy got the red mist and paid the price ... though from the looks of the parts list its only a few grand and if they can get the doors to open and close properly on the shell when they put it on the jig, it's probably not as bad as it looks. And I still enjoyed it!
Yes it was avoidable, but on track these things happen from time to time.
It could have been a lot worse though. Your comment of 25k to zero is that of a troll.
So what that it was an Evo, which I think is where your comments are coming from? Norris could have been seriously injured, AFAIK some spectators nearly were.
Would your comments be the same if it was AndyF, Pavlo, Steve Darley etc? I think probably not.

Horrible crash from what appeared to be a relatively minor sideswipe. Just goes to show how unpredictable crashes can be.
Feel sorry for them both. Racing is meant to be fun, hopefully they will both be able to remember that

Who are "AndyF, Pavlo, Steve Darley"? God?? No, if someone had been injured or killed, I would not have posted in the same vein, but they weren't so I did. Nowt wrng with that. Cars are our pride and joy... and expensive - I've wrecked a couple through sheer stupidity and had a good larf when I was able walk away especially if the insurance company is paying up. I've also paid a few times out of my own pocket so I know exactly what our friend is looking at. As I said before, it was avoidable and others agree, it was enjoyable cos it was only tin and plastic damaged, the film was really good, the guy's escape was nice and the still are good too. I think that probably veryone who's looked at this footage will have thought "amazing crash", but I'm the only one to say I enjoyed it so you get lairy. Other opinions count too, you know.

Other people's opinions do count, but it also counts as to how those opinions are delivered.
If only a couple of people have an issue with what you have said, then it may just be them being sensitive....but when its a much more general consensus, its best to put down the spade.

The way I see it is that the 106 was off the racing line where she should have been whilst the others went through, however after a bit of grass cutting by the first two and what looks like turning in a little early by Simon, coupled with reduced grip due to the dirt and then some inexperience on top of that, I'd say it was just one of those things that went pear shaped.
at the end of the day...
MOTORSPORT IS DANGEROUS !
but that's half the fun.

Nasty
Glad all are ok though
Not the first time Simon has crashed at Castle Coombe, saw him have an 'off' a few years back at Jap Fest, this looked a lot worse this time though
I am surprised at some comments on this thread I have to say

tussled, rubbed, hit, crashed, swapped paint, however you wanna put it.
it was a race, they had a propper race, just something / someone went wrong and it ended up was an unexpected outcome.
Shame, but I am sure he will be back with another 1 soon.

As already said, all class's race at the same time during these saloon races at CC. EVOs are in class A & the 106 is a class C car.
As you have already said Chrissy (106 gti driver)is fine & the car needs work but looking at the video where is she supposed to drive to keep out of the way? Exactly where she was!!
Looks to me while watching the in car vid, IMO the Evo comes on boost hard & is half on the grass infield (around 22 seconds in on vid)when it does.
A big lump of boost & grass/soil dont work well esp when the other half of the car is on tarmac.
Just another racing accident, just glad both drivers were ok.

Firstly I have to say...
Incredible picture Fuzz whoever took it !!
Secondly, the in car footage really did not do the accident justice, thats an amazing crash and result. Glad Simon and others involved are ok including those behind the barrier who without the track safely would have been seriously hurt too.
My earlier comment of a Fiesta was based on someone else on another forum mentioning it, I thought it looked like a pug, honest.
Thank heavens for safety devices eh!
