About family values etc and the lack of them in this day and age.
In london alone there are so many young teenage mothers whom the dads are several years older but dont look after or care for their offspring.

Im sorry "VoteConservative!" thats stereotyping. When she is 22 and he is nearly 30 will people still be asking this question? doubtful.
I do agree at her age she will have no idea what she wants in life, or exactly where she is going.
This article portrayed it in a bad light the guy seems a sexual predator and preyed on a girl who obviously has discovered her needs and desires and isnt afraid to use them.
I see quite a few couples in this thread have established healthy relationships/marriages out of it, just because they did it before the milllenium seems they were acceptable?
I do agree that society has lost alot of/if not all of the values my grandparents, and my parents were raised on and today society seems to lean towards sleeping with a 16 year old, instead of forming a substantial relationship with them.
However not everyone is like that, infact its funny this thread should crop up at this time as i recently met a girl who is 16 going on 17.
Extremely pretty girl, seems to have her head screwed on and knows what she wants in life (wants to do law, or join police. Of course time will tell as to what happens there but who am i to judge). However i find myself in a morale predicament as im 22 and she is 16/17, but i dont think its a predicament that people should find themselves in.
Age is a number used to signify your legality to do certain things, if there is attraction and chemistry (and both parties are of legal age) then what gives society the right to judge age gaps?

All im saying is that 16 year olds are still kids, and they are still inmature. They might appear to know what they want, but really dont have a clue about alot of things in life. I think the fact that you may become smitten with this young girl that your heart will rule over your head into thinking that she is fully developed mentally.
What makes me wonder though is how some of you guys manage to get talking to these 16 year olds in the first place.
Personally for me I dont have any issues with a age gap as long as the younger partner is atleast 18 or if there is no gap greater than two years between them if the youngest is 16. When I was 18 I personally wouldnt mess with 16 year olds no matter how easy it was. What was I meant to do with this 16 year old after I had driven her to maccie d's and got my rocks off? Its not like I could take her to a club.

Actually I have lied. I just remembered now that I did **** a 16yr old once when I was 18. However she was dating a 22 year old at the time who cheated on her with some prozzies apparently so I just helped her get her own back on him by sticking it in her. However going by how loose her minge was Id say she was a hell of alot more experienced than me. Could hardly feel anything on my todger, her mini moo was like the blackwall tunnel lol. Needless to say I didnt meet her ever again after that.

My mates going out with a 22yr old...he's 29.
So the age gap is the same. But suddenly it seems ok?
From what an old friend used to say "if there's grass on the wicket...." Odd he ended up going out with a 30-something milf at the tender age of 23. Go Mrs Robinson
I think the bottom line is, if a girl's got a good head on her shoulders, she'll keep her legs shut for "the right one". On the other hand - once she gets a taste there maybe no stopping her.
Then we have the ones spitting out babies at 14yrs or younger. So much for having a "age of consent" in this coountry, eh?

Although its not against the law it is highly inappropriate for a grown man (although still at that age not really an adult depending on whether he's been pampered as a child or not) of that age to have sexual relations with a 16 year old!!!
If I were her dad the lad in question wouldnt be coming to call for her any longer! I know if you lay the law down the will do whatever you say not to do but as a father I couldnt accept that!
Not having children myself yet I dred the day a doctor says 'Its a girl'!! I know that sounds stupid cos you would love your child regardless but from being daddies little girls right up until 13/14 then bringing 'steve' home and he's 16 (we all know what 16 year old boys are thinking of). All you want to do is have a 'quiet' chat with him in your garage whilst daughter gets ready....make sure you show him your collection of power tools!!! Its amazing what that chop saw can get through!!
I had the same conversation with an ex girl friends dad......and all 4 brothers!! That was great when we split up!!

I haven't read the "his" side of the story - and he may indeed be an utter ****, but...
In my opinion, its the old cliche, age doesn't have much to do with it. It must be infinitely better in anyones mind to have a 22yo guy go out with a 16yo girl who he thinks the world of, than an 18yo guy go out with a 16yo girl who he beats the crap out of.
Without knowing any specifics on the two people involved here, I don't see what the big problem is based just on age.

Personally i think a 16 yr old and 22 yr old is nothing,it depends on the maturity of both parties which the guy in the blog most definitely did not have any of!
I could have got together with the other half when i was 17 and he was 27, however i knew people would think all sorts of things about him so we just remained friends until i reached the ripe old age of 19
I'm 24 now and our relationship is "acceptable" by everyone.

Problem is when there is a massive age difference, is that you have nothing in common. Not so long ago I was erm... "Dating" a 20 year old. I am 36.
And whilst for the first few weeks i was walking around with a permanent grin on my face, after a while i came to realise that we just had absolutely nothing in common. Which, as time passes, begins to grate.
Excellent while it lasted though.
