Just saw one today in black.... not the most agressive version for sure... but not too bad in dark colours.
Why not have a poll on the name? I vote 'dead-eye'

Jap's Eye.

Seriously though, names like this become ever more feeble, so maybe it's time to let it lie?

if you look at why the bug eye was called a bug eye, it was because that was the most shocking distniguishing feature on that model when it came out.. it was what every talked about.. so it got branded the bug eye.... the blob and hawkeye were move ons from the bug using the same major chasis .. so there was no need to call them anythin different as from the outside the front exterior was the major visual change.. even if they were techincally alot more advanced.

this is a new model entirely.. and what is the most shocking distinguishing feature? ... the fact its a hatch!... so therefore this will be known as 'the hatch'

end of story!

How about not even an "eye" name, as it's a hatch and a completely different car.

sounds like most people opt for "the hatchback", although looking at how un-aggresive the syling is, it could end up being known as "the brokeback".....

My vote goes for :

"THE MG ZR WITH A BONNET SCOOP AND NASTY REAR LIGHTS - EYE"

From the pics I've seen so far it is VERY similar in general body shape to the ZR.

But in 5 years time it will be known as the M-EYE-A ( as in M.I.A ) - the fabled Impreza that was rumoured to exist but nobody ever bought one or saw one on the road as drivers didnt want to look like a 17 year old chav in a bodykitted Corsa for £20K or so.
