Thank you Markus

Everyone, once again. There are always going to be the odd one here and there that is crap / not ideal. I don't need to hear about each one. What we need to know is.. ON AVERAGE, is the quality of the ads ok now?

If ON AVERAGE the quality is very low, then we need to do something about it, if its OKish, we'll still tweak it, if it "fine" then we'll leave it.

Another update. I am seeing a few more different ads now. For example, Churchill, Sheila's Wheels, HPI check, Some "save the wilderness" thing, and a few others. I've not encountered any pop-ups in the brief testing I've done with "block pop-ups" disabled.

As for quality of the ads, they seem ok to me and also relevant to the forum content.

I didn't realise ad's for forums was such a problem. Google ads on my site are very good, amazingly well targetted and click throughs average 4.5% mostly because they're text rather than eye candy that people ignore.

I would have thought that well moderated forums should be fine as there must be a lot of relevant ads that could be shown that may be of real benefit, eg, camera ad's in photography.

Maybe SN should get together with other quality forums and offer their own ad system!

Does SNET get paid for each click through on the ads?

Why not have all SNeter's click on them, then back page / close window, so snet gets paid, but we ignore the ad!

Isn't Shelia's wheels ad sex discrimination? Only better deals for women?

That would be fraudulent. We would rather earn our revenue through honest means please.

Please only click the ads if you are interested in them.

And we don't get paid per click on everything anyway.

Some are per click, some per view, some per "purchase" / "action", etc.

I appreciate your support, but it would be really unfair, and immoral to do that, and there is plenty of software in place to ignore fraudulent clicks anyway.

Please only click the ads if you're interested.

Yeah Webby, I understand that, and we can't have you condoning such activity.
Just wondered if that was how it worked!

I'm seeing nothing but ads for car insurance in the space on the right now - which might be interesting for a few days a year, but surely there's more to life?
