Cheers mate,
Interesting to read.
Im spec'ing a similar spec build at the moment. What turbo are you using at the moment?
7750, is that your current rev limit or are you pushing past that?

Yes after all that text forgot to specify the Turbo - DOH!- GT35/42R, the compressor housing is modified to prevent/minimise surge, but this was carried out by the previous owner- so not sure what this entailed. It also has a Tial external wastegate near the bottom of the the down pipe. Boost is controlled by an AVC-R and the 3 port solinoid valve is fitted on the inner wing, down by the waste gate, as this improves response.
I geared the car to pull 130 at 7750 in 4th, I did this by fitting a wide ratio forester STI box (rockinghorse S##T) and 225/45-17s. I did this, because the car will pull c130 terminal speeds on the strip. This means one less gear change from when it was running a 5 speed, so in theory, should improve standing quarter times,(If only I knew how to drive ). The 6 speed weighs c. 18-20 kg more than a 5 speed, but I compensated this by fitting carbon boot and bonnet (saving 15KG- and lightweight wheels-saving 8kg)
So to answer you question about rev limits, 7750 seems to be a safe limit for 2.5s of this spec, after this its running out of puff (relatively speaking), but I often run 8000 in 4th at the line to prevent a gear change when drag racing.
The last time is was dyno'ed it run 525/550 running a GT30, but since then a GT35, two fuel pumps, and bigger injectors have been added. So I will be interested to see what it makes on 28th. (Assuming nothing breaks before then, as Im at Santapod on 22nd Sept.).
Regards
Sleeper.

No one ever came back to me to say whether Turbonators are legal or not.
I guess it will be one mankinds unanswered question.

Cheers mate, sounds great. A splash of meth on the 35 should see you well up in the 500s depending on your boost level and profile.
Looking forward to seeing the car and its results. Thanks for sharing
