I'll have a look round, I've actutually seen it twice on TV.

Basically the Prius life expectancy is shorter and there is much higher CO2 used in production of the cells, motor and ic engine and scrapping of the vehicle causes problems with the Prius having fewer recyclable parts as well.

Cheers

Chop - its mainly political. Labour inherited policy from the Tories relating to the Kyoto Protocol and once ratified have had to adhere to the UK's commitment to reducing CO2.

Forget the argument about climate change and whether its man-made or not because its irrelevant due it now being part of the political agenda. The government is playing the greenwashing game extremely well and the public are generally gullible enough to fall for it as they did with taxing 4x4s.

"4x4s = yummy mummy's driving round town = they've got more money than me = envy = tax them."

What the public didn't recognise is that a whole load of other cars would get caught up in this increase in road tax that weren't 4x4s. Obviously a result for HMG as they've successfully increased tax thresholds whilst playing the green card.

Now take aviation. Same thing as the general finger pointing at all those selfish people taking flights to 'exotic foreign locations' will result in massive tax hikes as the government yet again plays the green card. People are so gullible in the UK and if it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

You can expect nothing more from a bunch who have lied to the country and the House for the last ten years or so! And generally dumbed down the country and reduced moral behaviour to its present lowest levels so that people generally take no interest in politics and let them do what they want!

I seem to remember reading that so called low energy bulbs have a larger total carbon footprint over their lives including manufacture and also are more toxic when it comes to disposing of them!

Brilliant miss-information carried out by the Government and Media.

People laugh at me when I tell them 85% of cars in Band G (The so called 4X4 tax) are not SUV 4X4's.

The miss-informed also fail to realise that although many family saloons like the V6 Mondeo fall in Band G the new 3.0d X5, the favorite school run hate vehicle, is Band F and escapes the high tax.

Sad thing is if you keep telling the general public the same thing and add in a bit of envy then they will believe anything.

Cheers

Leslie,

please don't start me on CFLs

Pop into your local "bulb shop" and have a read of one of those "eco friendly" devices. The box will say, IN BIG LETTERS, that it has a lifetime of eight years - but looking closer, the "small print" says "assuming that it is only used for 2.7 (TWO POINT SEVEN) hours per day!!!

So what the **** do you do in winter???

Lies, damn lies and treehuggers

Talking of the 4x4 tax.. I drive a hunking great 4x4 but it doesnt effect me funny how people supported it because they called it a 4x4 tax but in reality it effects business big wigs in their large saloons more than anyone else
