I'll be speaking Ceri tomorrow about meeting up, but just for the record, as this has the potential of getting quite big, I thought I'd mention some more important details -
1. Needless to say, stick to the speed limits!!
2. Again ,we're all pretty sensible, but no Colin McRae antics please!!!
3. In the event of any unacceptable behaviour, I suggest we make our own seperate ways home - don't get involved....
THE ABOVE IS THE DISCLAIMER STUFF. I DON'T WANT TO PUT A DOWNER ON WHAT COULD BE A NICE DAY OUT.
Nuff said.

Only just read this thread as I assumed it was a 'local' meet
As 'Midlands Ambassador to Wales' I know the area quite well
Anyone who has been on a 'Welsh Camping Trip' will testify
I know a very nice pub near Aber' if you fancy it (as long as there ar'n't TOO many)
Drop me an email if you are interested, I will be along if I can make it but it would be an early start from Derby

Volunteered again, eh?
Well, it has to be the Poacher's Pocket then for the Worcester Crew...
The time to meet at the Poacher's Pocket is:
(Watch this thread - I'll edit this post when I work out how long we'll need to get to Leominster!!)

Right then laydeez and gentlewomen!!!!!
There is a slight change of plan - hopefully for the better, but I'll put it to the vote.
After speaking with Ceri (for an hour and a half!!!), he's suggested a better route (IMHO).
We proceed as planned to meet at Leominster Safeways for 12pm.(20/1/02)
Continue down teh A44/A481 to Builth Wells.
Proceed down the A483 to LLandovery.
Meet up with Ceri and the Welsh lot at the motorbike cafe.
Ceri has got a much better route (again IMHO) that runs as follows -
A40 to Trecastle (have a look at the scenery etc) - loads of nice twisties too
Head through the forest down "Devils Staircase" - 1 in 3 hill with nice bends.
Go past the mock German Village (military I kid you not!!!!)
Stop at the reservoire by the A4059/A470.
Past Merthyr Tydfil, out on the A465
Up the B4560 to Tretower where we stop and have a meal (I NEED BODY COUNTS TO BOOK THE PUB A.S.A.P!!!!)
From there, home time - Hereford/Worcester lot either up the A479/A438 to Hereford then A4103 etc
Leominster lot - as above, but add on the A4112/A44 (Worcester lot could also do the same.....
The reason behind this potential change of plan is -
It's all main A-roads to Elan Valley and only about 10 miles of twisties to Aber
By the time we get to Aber and on up to Borth, it will be starting to get dark - don't fancy driving back too late in the dark, even WITH my uprated lights!!!
This applies even moreso to the Worcester lot....
Waddya think? I need answers ASAP for Ceri to sort more route maps, meal bookings etc....

Right chaps (tally ho etc!!! )
Mark Coleman has been in touch with an alternative route. As follows -
<<The route I had in mind was Ryader, Elan Village, up towards the reservoirs, east to join B4574 (cross country), Tregaron, cross country down to Llandovery, then back up A483 to Builth Wells using unhabitable sections of road with excellent views across open country and valleys for added safety. Not sure if its everyones cup of tea but these are some of the best roads you will ever drive in the UK, if its driving you want.>>
I've posted this route in fairness to Mark, thus giving people a choice.
What do you all think?
WE NEED RESPONSES QUICKLY AS WE HAVE TO SET THIS ROUTE IN STONE TO AVOID CONFUSION!!!! (MY confusion!!!)
Answers on a postcard..
Dan
EDITED BECAUSE I'M VERY TIRED AND I'M WRITING STUPID THINGS!!!!

Just got off the dog with Ceri - little bit of confusion about the route and changes!!!!
If there are any further amendments or changes to the route, shout up now, as after Monday night, the existing route will be cast in stone.
Another thing worth mentioning is fuel. How many people need unleaded/Super or Optimax? Because some of these may not be available for most of the route......
If any changes are made to the route, please bear in mind how many miles your Scoob will do on a tankful (and therefore where you fill up!!!)
Just as a polite reminder, I need a body count of people who are eating - so far :-
Me & D (& young 'un)
Jason & Christa
Tony, Mrs Tony and Mrs Tony jnr
James & Mrs James
Martin (MDB)
Rik & Karen
Any others - c'mon Worcester lot!!!
Watch this space!

Sorry guys, got to miss this one.
Bent the scoob on Friday morning.
No hump back bridges this time.
A low speed ( about 15 mph ) crash on a very greasy road. If it had been dry or very wet I would have stopped but the tyres did not grip.
Pushed some sort of renault van into the car in front.
Does not appear to be any damage to the front car, the renault has a very small crack in the front bumper and I knocked the cover that allow access to the towing hook of his rear bumper. It just clipped back in.
The scoob took the impact on the near side driving lamp.
Need new bonnet, new front bumper, new grill, new nearside headlight/side light, new nearside cibie driving lamp and something else needs to be straightend or replaced. All bulbs still intact and working!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like £1500 - £2000.
Well f***ed off. Needed lots of beer and spirits at the weekend.
Hope to see you all at the next one,
Jon
