There are loads of Muscat desert wines so I guess I assumed that all the grape was good for was sweet stuff. I might get some sent to me for research purposes.

While Cloudy Bay is very good, there's better Sauv Blancs from the Marlborough region, obviously IMO. Oyster Bay, whilst I like drinking the stuff, gives me hangovers. Dunno why.

Been in OZ coming up for 3 years and I still haven't found a Sauv Blanc that can get close to anything from Kiwi Land. However, try some of the Aussie unwooded chardonnays if you can find them. OZ also do good blends of Semilion/Sauv Blanc - SSB and SBS.

If you're thinking reds then, seeing as I'm in OZ, Coonawara is famous for Cab Sauvs but don't overlook the Margaret River contingent: the one's that are main stream in the UK ain't the best.

Anyhow, I thought there were rules and such: Thai food means Singha, surely, eh, CharleyWhiskey?

Yeah Muscat is used mainly in sweet wines, but when fermented as a dry wine it has a unique taste which will compliment spicy food better than almost any other grape variety. Most supermarkets will have at least one example. Try it, you won't be dissapointed.

I am a big fan of Sauvingnon Blancs these days, used to be Chardonnay all the time but now they just seem boring, my father in law buys the stuff by the crate, Paarl Heights is the brand, its only about three quid.

Had a bottle of Turning Leaf Charodonnay last night as it was the only think in the Tesco Extra worth drinking, ok I suppose.

Wouldn't bother with a white as Thai will probably obliterate most of the taste.

See how much damage you can do to a box of Banrock Station.

Apart from the usual suspects, that people seem to bring topmparties but not drink, we get all our wines and xmas spirits from the Lyme Bay Winery.

Specialist country wines, ciders, liqueurs, preserves and gifts from Lyme Bay Winery

People really enjoy the different taste when you serve it up.
