ScoobyNet - New Layout

Is this the same on all pages? If so, please post in bugs and features so we can investigate (please include your browser, etc)
If its just some threads, it looks to me as though the image resizing feature hasn't worked which means that page is stretched due to the images being too big.
If this is the case, please post about that also.
Cheers

Simon - it seems to be in some threads - but not others. Stranger still is that page 3 of this thread is as shown in that screengrab - but this new page 4 displays fine.
I'm using Opera - and will post in the bugs section.
Richard.

Webby, just wondered if you had missed my post:

You showed some interest in ways to save space at the top of the screen and I came up with a few ideas. If you have seen the post and don't like them, thats cool, they are only ideas

sorry luminous, I thought I'd replied.
We're working on the space saving now, but its going happen gradually. I think the solution you propose is a little extreme, but some of the ideas are great.
Some slight improvements will happen today.

On the Home, Forum, Scoobynews etc the additional links they provide when you hover over them, can they become drop down links, then you can move the Members, Posts, and Mode buttons up alongside them to free up a few more pixels

I think we have to be careful not to go too extreme here. The header image has already been reduced considerably, and the menu in its current format is very useful, so I would ideally like to keep that the same format for now.
We're working on what's below that though.

New feature launched in response to your requests :
Personal Message Feeds. So you can now remove the text messages just above the main content by clicking the x next to each message.

PS. In addition, we've reduced the spacing down to 5 pixels for the top area elements, to give a bit more space, and more work will be done on this to improve further.

He'd be OK if the ad didn't animate. I've no objection in principle to having the ads there, for all the reasons Shaun has patiently re-iterated time and again... BUT:
I don't like having my attention grabbed any more than having my hair grabbed (or anything else for that matter - at least, not when I'm at work!) - and it is an annoying distraction. Couldn't we reserve the animation for the banners top & bottom that are likely to spend most of their time scrolled off the screen anyway?

Hi Andy
Asking advertisers to produce adverts that don't catch people's eye is like asking you to only apply for jobs with low salaries.
Trust me though.. we actively filter out an extraordinary number of adverts for you.. such as :
Adverts that make noises
Adverts that redirect you to a new page before you can view the content.
Adverts that jump around until you click them
Adverts that you have to click before you can read what's under them
Adverts that have warnings on them, etc..
etc
etc
All of these adverts earn HUGE money by comparrison, and its literally a single click for us to turn them back on. But we keep things very carefully controlled.

And for that I thank you, and that is worthy alone of continuing paying for membership here
Any site I go to that has those kind of adverts just makes me close my browser and go and do something else, I detest them with a vengeance

sorry about that guys.
We've just installed a MASSIVE midification to the site which has just dramatically reduced the server load. This should see things speed up and get us another step closer to switching search elements back on.
Should be back to normal now.
