The later STi 114.3 pcd hubs would be better suited for the added load that the offset will create, but seeing as we have already got the suspension(front hole centres are different), hubs and wheels, we are going to test these out first and see if it becomes a problem
Really nice.
Are you expecting a 'dramatic' grip improvement via wider rims/rubber or better cornering grip through a wider track (or both of course).
I ask because will the Impreza benefit from a 7'' rim with spacers to widen the track/fill the arches, or have you used 9'' rims (say) with the stock insets and simply taken the rim out to the wing arch?
I am considering some radical cut-and-open wings on my hillclimb classic but only if there are real benefits to wide rims on a 4x4 Impreza. Sometimes an over-tyred car is not better?

Will be sure to let you know how i get on with the handling
, fair point about the 'over-tyre', was going to go for 9x18 rims but when the mags came up we thought we would take the gamble and see if the weight saving and lower rolling resistance over 9x18 alloys would outweigh the added grip they may give!p.s suspension will be coming down a fair bit, from that shown in the photo's too!

Interesting.
The wide rims and tyres would also make the geometry set-up much more sensitive and the body roll control similarly so.
On hillclimb cars (not road going) I've seen Mini's on 8'' wide rims cornering badly with simply too much grip and driveing with great difficulty, Westfields/Caterhams the same.
8'' rims with 235 section x 35 (?) x 18's will be quite a weight if the tyres are road tyres. The weight advantage of my AVON slicks over a decent road tyre is really noticable. (slicks are 16''/Sti rims and the road tyres are 17's on P1 rims)
I will be very interested to see how low you go!

My friend Alison Collins has started doing a few 'arty' pictures of the car. The photo's were taken by her and she has obviously used photoshop to do the backgrounds etc
