Bedford Trackdays

I don't think Cems Skyline is in the same state of tune as Steve's. Cem's exhaust is quieter than mine (same as Steve's).
As we're on a rant about PalmerSport, I wasn't too keen at being woken up at 8am on a Sunday morning by the police, who thought a PalmerSport Exige (without numberplates) that triggered the a speed camera in Weedon was my car !! Still, I put them straight

Look, this is Scoobynet. It is intended for discussion about things related to Scoobies.
You guys are talking about an issue that frankly doesn't affect Scooby drivers, unless they really insist on paying more to attend a Palmersport day rather than an SIDC event.
Why aren't you all moaning about the fact that some track day firms charge £295 for less track time at the same venue that we charge £100?
Why aren't you moaning about paying £215 for a bottle of Dom Perignon that costs £65 in the off-licence?
Get my point?
If you don't like the charge you won't pay it, simple.
Perhaps you should take the whinging to the appropriate bbs though?
Stef.

It does affect Scooby drivers, it seems there are quite a few Scooby owners on here who were considering going to a PalmerSport day.
This is a good place to complain because PalmerSport have participated in this thread, it's a good way to give them feedback, otherwise they won't know why people aren't turning up.
Also, imagine the frustration of not knowing theres a £75 charge for passengers (as most operators do it for free) and then finding out only when you get to the track ! It's too late then.
I don't see it as whinging, I see it as making people aware.

...and I think in the main, it's been constructive critisism
Anyway Stef, from what I can see, this thread is gonna have the effect of making sure that all the Bedford SIDC days this year are oversubscribed (you can't win m8 'cos then there'll be a thread where people are complaining about it being over-subscribed... )

I used to think your posts were quite well thought out Stef
I am not going to go on too much because David picked up on most points and I agree with his thoughts but....
Did you read the very first post that begun the thread Stef? The whole discussion has followed on from this and stayed pretty much on topic.
Stef, we are not insulting or whinging in any way about SIDC days - I actually praised them. The point is, GMT and myself want to do a non SIDC day so some non- SIDC drivers can join us and we will probably have spectators who would prefer to be in the pit areas, as per SIDC days and wouldn't want to pay £75. That has been the main point of discussion.
Scoobynet is for Scooby related stuff Stef. I would go to a more appropriate BBS to discuss an issue such as this.
Not really
Agreed. Does that mean we can't discuss the matter? Thought this was a place where one was free to give an opinion and have a discussion (within reason). I see nothing offensive or ill-natured posted on this thread (apart from Arron Bird but thats nothing new ).
I thought the trackday forum on a Scooby BBS was fairly appropriate?

I'm afraid I'd have to side with Stef on this one.
I wouldn't necessarily agree that there's been much whinging, but there's been a fair amount of bitching.
As I see it Bedford, or any other business, are perfectly entitled to do exactly as they please, providing they make people aware of any charges or restrictions. If you don't want to pay, then don't go. If Bedord's business decreases as a result, I think they'll work it out for themselves. I don't think they need us to tell them how to run their business, and since these charges and restrictions do not apply to SIDC events, I don't understand why everyone's making such a fuss.
For example:Tony's cronies are destroy our businesses, letting our roads fall apart, and screwing us for petrol, road and other 'stealth' taxes which never go where they're supposed to, and to cap it all, some of your were even stupid enough to vote for them. This is something that actually does effect us all, and is something that we can do something about. Yet nobody seems to bitch about it on the BBS.

*sigh*
I completely agree with Rikki's post. No-one is telling Palmersport what to do. We're making a point politely on a public BBS, on an issue that may affect Subaru drivers, that we don't agree with one point of their policy.
Can I just a say that:
1) Bedford is a fantastic venue and everyone thinking of doing a track day this year should try there - its very fast and very safe
2) £75 for a drive in their single seater is a great deal which I will tell my friends about
3) making passengers pay £75 even if they do not want to take advantage of the single seater option is not a very good idea in my, and a few others, opinions.
Bedford have used this thread to promote their single seater package which is great. Some of us have indicated that paying £75 to be a passenger only is not a great deal - whether Bedford decide to change things or not is entirely up to them. I hope this thread at least makes them reconsider the option.
Thats all.
