Just back from hols today.
I will contact Curtis at AST early next week and confirm everything.
If the weather is good it will be great, and if damp very very hairy!

OK!

FINAL LIST NOW, HOPE THIS CAN ALL WORK OUT:

SOME HAVE DROPPED-OUT, BUT THE LIST IS

MIKEY TANG
T5NYW
DANNY BOY
BIGBRAKES (?)
PETE HARRIMAN IF HIS EVO IS WORKING
ME

I have rebooked the track for the Morning of tuesday the 9th Oct, not the whole day.
Cost is £225 divided by those who attend.
I will be paying the fee direct to the Course Manager so please bring the cash with you or my wife will come to your door....

Curtis will be there from Powerstation to advise, but if you want to tinker with the spanners bring your own tool kit.

The track is very secure and has a very large tarmac paddock area. Richard Etheridge is bringing his camera so you might get him to do some action shots.
Curborough Sprint track is off the A38 up by Litchfield, see the web site below.

The trace is very difficult and most deceptive to go quickly on so if you are 'mad' you will fall off quite safely.
Bring food and coffee as it can be bloody cold there.

Above all this will be a great blast to be shared by all.
The front gates will be open from 9.30am/10.00 if not wait for me to arrive with the keys. When through the front gates drive all the way into the facility and down a gentle slope to the paddock area.
Bring lots of fuel. It will use a lot and the one bend will induce a lot of fuel starvation on 1/3 of an Impreza tank unless you are a wimp at cornering!

We will need to be out by about 1 or 2 pm (ish) depends if anyone has it booked for the afternoon.

Even I'm getting excited now!

This session is on private ground, so technically nothing is needed.

The only thing i ask is for everyone to be organised enough to ensure we all get our value out of the day by sharing the time in an organised way.

Only one car on the track at a time is safe.

It is surprising just how tired you and the car become very quickly, and the car/tyres will get hot and need time to cool down. This is when the next guy can go out and play, when they return, the next guy etc.

At the rate we are going there will be 4 of use so each will get 3/4 hour running. The track takes just 35 seconds to run, so you will do a lot of testing.

I'm hoping Rob Harriman and Pete will bring the hillclimb Impreza, but not sure.
Pete's EVO is dead for now.

Please be sure to come along or I will have to pick-up the bill!

The weather might hold, in which case you will be traveling far faster than you think!
There are vid on Youtube of the venue being run if you want to prep yourself.

Pop onto this link, there is a MultiMap on there for exact location. Take the A38 north between Tamworth and Derby. At the turning for Fradley peel off and turn left ar the top of the slipway. You drive through a large industrial estate of sorts, but keep going. After 1 mile or so you will pass an open air go kart track on your left. About 100 meter after on your left is a small lane off the main drag. There is a small sign showing 'Curborough Sprint Track, the home of Club motorsport' (I think).
Curborough Sprint Course, the Premier UK Sprint Venue. Motorsport in the UK, Your Guide to Sprinting and Hillclimbing in the UK
Take it. The entrance to the track is another 100 meters on the right down that narrow lane. There are 2 big steel gates. If they look closed check them as i will have opened them but pushed them 'closed' Please open them and come into the track.
Follow the side road down the side of the sprint track right down to the tarmac paddock I'll be there from about 9.30am.

If the weather is the same as today it will be a very fast session.

Curtis has confirmed he is coming. We have to be off the track at 1.00pm unless nobody else arrives for the afternoon session.
I think there will be 5 of us so a lot of track time.

Bring coffee/food etc!
my mobile is 07950033157
If I don't immediatly answer it's because I have no hands free.

Feel free to bring friends, especially if they have a stop watch. I knew I would forget something from work!

Graham.

Good to meet you all, and to see Tony (again after a few years!).

Thank you to Graham for organising the day, even though the weather was wet wet wet.

I have posted some videos and pictures in the Member's Gallery.

Pity the day was so wet, but nobody (yet) can control that.

For me it was very interesting day, and thanks to those brave enough to allow me to drive there cars on the day.

My car is very modified in the chassis dept, and Curtis from Powerstation changed a few settings to improve the drive in the wet which will help me later after converting the car to 'full-race' spec for 2009.

The cars with far less mods and road tyres were quite a handful at the speeds I'm used to in my car on slicks, even though the slicks were really shot.

The obvious areas were understeer and very loose rear ends, some at the same time!
I think a stock Impreza would scare me now.

I played with the dccd somewhat, and it reminded me that once you have the sweet spot on the wheel leave well alone! Startling what it does when you move too close to the locked position, especially in the wet, and how weak the chassis become when you run on track/wet with the wheel on Open.

Would love to do the same test day in the dry, so if there is enough interest in spring 2008, I'll organise one and bring my hillclimb 911 to REALLY scare you and I alike.

Very nice seeing new faces and old yesterday, glad you all liked it, and thanks to Curtis and Powerstation for attending.
