how many miles on a tank full?
Yeah i did, so dont try and make me look a fool.
And most people say they get 230 plus, some going as far as the 300's. Which i was more than happy to live with.
But as it stands at the moment, the car is barely giving me 200 miles to a tank, and thats with sensible driving. And whilst i can afford to run it, i am not an idiot, and due to previous cars, know i can have just as much fun for far less money.
But ho hum, we live and learn.

02 WRX I get around 270 - 280 on my normal weekly running around. And around 300 - 315 on long journey`s but that depends on whether I have the boats on the roof or not. If the missus drives I get a lot less, She`s a little bit more heavy footed than me. Maybe because she doesn`t have to put fuel in it. This is before the light comes on.

20 mpg regular as clockwork from my MY05 STi PPP. Managed 23 mpg the day I bought it, driving home from Warrrington but haven't achieved this since
Mixed driving most weeks, to and from work, but as I do 270miles a week commuting, I always visit the garage twice in any 7 day period. Usually around the 230 mark when the "lack of" fuel light comes on. Think I could easily get down to 15 or 16 mpg if I drove it flat out everywhere
You are using all the gears.... right?

just got a record for my 432bhp motor
249 miles
no motorway driving at all and a good few, full on blasts
I had to put 48 litres in though and no warning light (I'm not sure if the type r has one)
API should advertise as "eco friendly" engine builders

Well, much to my surprise I have just achieved 300 miles to one tankful, the needle was sitting just above empty when I filled it up again so actually may have got 310
!.
That was done with a full tank of Tesco 99 in an '03 wrx with PPP fitted.
Was doing on average 80 mph around the M25 yesterday going to and from the Prodrive day ( from outskirts or Southend ).
Best i've had yet

I stand to be corrected but power should not make too much of a difference from a fuel economy stand point when cruising off boost, essentially a 200bhp and 400bhp subaru have the same engine give or take a few forged internals(as long as we are talking the same engine size). Its when the turbo gets a good workout that all the extra fuel will be needed.

My tuner has been experimenting with fuel economy maps. On his latest map, along with my grounding kit, I'm getting 240miles on a tank. Its an MY04 JDM V-Limited. No mod's except a decat, Ecutek, and bigger olive than stock.
Driving style makes a huge difference in mileage. That 240 was with shifting at 3500 to 3800 and using 1/4 to half throttle. If I cane it, I'll probably get 150 miles from a tank.

i dont care how much it uses or i wouldnt of got it to boot the hell out of
thanks guys for all your responses on this, only thing i can say to most of you is if your getting 250 + per tank full your lucky
and for thuse of you who think im

About 220-240 miles on a full tank of V-Power, mostly town driving with the odd thrash about when I get on NSL roads, noticed though on Motorway cruising that it's hugely better would probably be nearer the 300 mile mark. That's in a MY00 UK Turbo PPP.
MY05 STI - I average around 20-22MPG. Long runs i have seem 280 out of a tank, but it doesnt give alot more.
I think the way forward is a remap... the standard MY05 STi runs extremely rich at the low end (which is probably compensation for the possibility of crap fuel built in by Subaru). It seems remapped cars have more ability to be better 'Everyday Users' whilst also having that extra go when you want it.
All comes down to the fact Subaru have the mass produce a map for a range of different tolerences within the same model's engine, whilst mappers can tailor make i guess.

From: Please excuse my Spelling - its not the best !!
Dont normally run it until the light comes on \ moves to empty, It gets refilled when hits 1/4 left. If just used for work and back 240 / 250 miles. Used the car a bit more than just work this week (mostly motorway runs at noe more than 80) and got 302 miles from 10 gallons of fuel (needed to out it back to full) so 30 mpg ! Record for me !!

Lots of differences to allow for,
Turbo's - smaller turbo's come on boost earlier/easier, larger turbo's later, so its more likley that a 2.0 on a TD05 in a weeks normal drive is only on boost for less than 5% of the time, my TF035 on the other hand will be on boost almost every accel!
Mapping, if its mapped for progresive boost increase against throttle its easier to drive somewhere between atmospheric pressure and max boost in the manifold.
CR, JDM cars have a higher CR and therefore a higher thermodynamic efficiency.
Pistons, The later cars (97 on) with slipper pistons are a lot better as engine friction is reduced.
Plus other factors like weight (classic better than newage), drag (newage better than classic), driving style, gear ratios (RA rev monsters not so good) etc.
In the families experience of 4 2.0 turbos (not scoobs) and 2 sub 3litre V6's - plus my scoob on top, they have ALL averaged between 22.5 and 25mpg for nearly all tankfulls.

Why doesnt it have a fuel light.
Average 220 miles to a tank, running 350bhp and i cant help but give it some most of the time! And thats with Type R gearing.

220 miles around town,i always fill up at the quarter mark though, motorway ive had nearly 280 miles, thats a MY 99 UK Turbo with sports cat, ninja centre and H n S backbox. I always find if im at half a tank with 150 miles ive done well, if i use the old right foot it drops to 125ish by half a tank.
MY98 type R with a few mods, front mount, 20g stuff like that
on the Mway i get about 220 to a full tank
and when i'm pushing it i get about 120-140 to a full tank
like last week went out and had a wee blast with me mate in his GTR32 liner
only got about 50 miles to half a tank
but thats what you get if you want to have a fun car
